Absolutely true. Left-foot braking is a useful technique but it takes practice to develop the proper feel. I'd recommend learning in a safe, isolated setting.

I drive a manual and left foot brake when I don't have to change gear on corner entry. Using your left foot allows you to have much better control over the roll and pitch of the car throughout the duration of the corner. The benefits really are great, especially when driving on a track. You do have a fair point about inexperienced drivers left-foot braking but it is a great skill to learn and saying you should "NEVER" do it is not strictly true.

I just picked up a 33k mile example for $38k. I highly recommend one as a GT car/daily. It isn’t as fast or lively as my 335is but it keeps me out of trouble.
@steelcitystyle76543 жыл бұрын
That’s a great price. Looking for one now
@Hidezepickle12 жыл бұрын
I don't think he meant that for ordinary city trafic. Left foot braking is used when you go into a corner with too much speed but dont want to lift of the throttle because it can cause trailing-throttle oversteer. If you want to exit the corner better, you can keep your right foot controlled on the throttle, increasing power and induce oversteer with left foot braking. You should try it on a racetrack once, takes some getting used to though.

A great review! Appreciate the A/S/RS 5 weight comparison. Good job, thank you!
@MicahMuzio12 жыл бұрын
The torque vectoring diff is actually very reassuring. Powering out of corners you can feel a hint of understeer before the system sends torque to the outside rear wheel, tightening up your line. Bottom line, the RS5 goes where you want. Good stuff.

Read the whole comment!! I said never operate the brake with your left foot IF YOU'VE JUST COME FROM driving a manual.... Coz your left foot is used to the force that is applied to press the clutch (which is harder than the brake, brakes require just minimal input). If you drive an automatic all the time, then there's no problem...
@TheFloridaStig8 жыл бұрын
If you live in a place where weather makes AWD a plus, this is the best choice. But the competitor isn't the C63, it's the E550 coupe: 400 hp and a stomping 443 lb/ft of torque, it'll rip off the line much faster. While nobody matches Audi for interiors, the Merc is roomier, especially back seat legroom (actually usable by adults unlike the RS5) and a much larger trunk. Same chassis as the C63 (the E coupe is not built on the E sedan's chassis), it's low, wide, and mean looking. And that V8 in the Merc sounds so much more like a muscle car. Now if only Benz made an E63 coupe - mmmmm, heaven.
@naperking8 жыл бұрын
+Ron Bo Trust me when I tell you that the RS5 will embarrass the E550 coupe in pretty much every aspect. I've seen an RS5 overtake a 991 GTS in a straight line. It's a serious car, with serious performance chops. The E550 is a mildly quick boat, it's not totally ugly, though.
@00Dusty6 жыл бұрын
Ron Phillips the rs5 isn’t supposed to be a family car it’s a two door sports car the c63 has unusable back seats too and watch any launch the Quattro system beats everything of the line. Also on engine note the merc is a 6.2 where as the Audi is just a 4.2 😂 and there is a e63 isn’t there?

thats why you practice driving with both feet, back in the day people did it all the time, to cut down reaction time. Some people who drove manuels will still use this method even in an automatic, for that purpose. Even if you come from a manuel trans car you should be smat enough to realize how much brake force your gonna have to apply.

Mmm, I'd say that most consider the R8 to be "...at the top. In the Alpha position..." of the Audi hierarchy. That said, I totally want an RS5 as my daily driver. Traditionaly, I'd want something more akin to an F1 car for the street but, I suppose I'm "old enough" to drive something more mature that has doors and air conditioning.
@Bugumir11 жыл бұрын
Amazing car. But despite this I think they messed up. The m3 works well with its low torque V8 cause it's lighter and rear wheel drive. This however could have used more torque, perhaps a supercharged engine.. Add that to the infamous Audi under-steer that they still haven't sorted out and it quickly becomes apparent that, while it seems superior to its competition, its flaws sink it down to (at best) their level.

I think thats because its all wheel drive, what is much safer to compare with back or frontwheel drive system. But where the BMW is more of as a fun car. Audi is more as a touringcar, atleast i think. I own an A4, and driven BWM's, could be me.. but audi's interior looks way better than BMW's theirs.

@CobraRGuy15 жыл бұрын
Completely untrue! Quattro indicates that an Audi is AWD. You can get an A5 with Quattro and it is the lowest performance of the 5 series. Quattro is optional on the A5 and standard on the S5 and RS5. Do your homework next time.
