Yeah the 390 was rad. Gonna tee up another ride comparison in a few weeks time and make a proper decison. New bike time is fun.

yeah the track was pretty basic... 3002t was great but way too much bike for an average trail hack like me!

Okay....so I know the 350rr loves to be revved and is more racey as you told me. What benefit would the 390 have over the 350 for an average trail rider? I've decided on one of these two bikes but can't make a final decision on which would be best for me. I keep thinking the 390 might be heavier and harder to handle for a shorter rider, but it sounds like a couple of guys here on youtube like the 390 even though they never rode the 350. So they could not advise. I know you have ridden both and chose the 350rr instead of the 390. I'm looking for a reason to go with one or the other. Maybe you can steer me in the right direction? I assume they are both pretty good for an occasional ride on the street in order to get to another trail, not sure which one would have a faster top end though. I've rode street bikes all my life but not any of the new dirt bikes. Having a tough time deciding on one of them. My local Beta shop won't let you test ride them and I have no idea where Beta might have a test ride day in my area since it's a small town. I've been watching your videos a lot and sometimes it seems that you have difficulty get the bike up some of the steep areas.....I'm wondering if that's the case with all your friends bikes too or just your 350. You told me the 390 has more low end grunt...do you think it would climb hills better or about the same? I'll be riding my new bike on mountain trails from 4,300 ft up to 9,000 ft. Any suggestions you have might help me make my decision. :) Sorry to bother you but you have the most 350rr videos on youtube! I would think you would know best. :)

The dirt bikes I had were smaller ones when I was a teenager...long ago! I also had a Suzuki RM 250 in the 90's, but that bike was to much for me, I didn't like the explosive power of a 2T, I felt like I would flip it if I hit that power band at the wrong time, plus it was to tall for me. 4T's have a much more controllable power band for sure, and I like that. Too old for 2T's now.

There's very little weight difference between any of the Betas, but like all motorcycles the gyro effect / spinning mass of the larger engines does certainly exist and adds a feel of weight. Bigger bike = bit harder to turn. 350 is racier and needs to be ridden harder, 390 a bit easier. Go with the 390. Any videos where i'm struggling up hills is probably because the hill is crazy nasty, rocky or unusually steep - if you actively go out looking for insane trails, you'll be fine on the beta. As for hill climbs, that all depends on your gearing. I'd suggest not gearing it for roads, and instead tight hill climbing. No single bike is perfect in all conditions, compromise will need to be made. just buy either and you'll love it.

Thanks faultline! Sorry for being a pain in the arse! lol I think I will go for the 390, after watching several videos of others riding it, I like the way the engine sounds at low rpm's and how it responds at slower trail riding and moderate hill climbs. I'll definitely gear it to suit my off road riding. If I was 15 years younger, I might go for the 350 and ride faster! Thanks for being patient and answering my questions. No worries mate - get the 390, ride it for awhile, when you start to get used to it pop on an FMF slip on exhaust and remap it. The difference will blow your mind. Enjoy! :)

heh there's a bit more to it than that mate! What sort of terrain do you ride? Your ability level? Prefer 2T to 4T? I ended up buying the 350 Beta and love but it's not gonna suit everyone. That said you really can't go wrong with any of the Betas, they're fantastic bikes. Good luck mate :)

in your honest opinion. what difference is there between 350 and 390. handling, weight, torque and power to be the comparison

350 is revvier / racier. Likes having its neck wrung. 390 extra low down power, feels like it lugs better, even if it probably in my head. A buddy has the 430, feels totally different again. A lot closer to a 450, heaps more power when you wrap it on, lugs great, heaps of torque and top end if you're game. I don't think there's a lot of difference in the weight tbh, there wouldn't be much in it I wouldn't think but I haven't looked.
