Thanks for posting this video Fonzie. Over the years I've done most of my own mechanical work but that was on simple battery and coil ignition systems of the '50's, '60's, and '70's. I've been hesitant to tackle working on anything newer but I'm also sick and tired of paying big bucks for simple fixes. Watching your video gave me the confidence to tackle this job on my wife's Enclave myself. Just finished replacing the sensor and all is good after clearing the codes with a Blue Driver wireless OBD II reader. The only thing I would add is have someone with small hands help you with start screwing the new sensor back in. My large mitts couldn't fit down there no matter what contorted body position I chose so I got my wife to place the new sensor. Thanks again and I'm subscribed.

Thanks for the video. My wife owns a 2015 Buick Enclave so this did help me out. My only trouble spot was the harness covering the sensor. So I would add, aside from pushing down on the black tab to help unplug the harness. The red clip is a lock that needs to be pushed up or forward from underneath which will release the harness and allow you to slide it off easily.

very helpful video. Thank you so much.

Nice video. Just did it, and pretty much the same. Though the only thing I had to remove was top shroud. With the wiring harness unclipped from block, had enough room to replace it without having to unhook anything else. Hardest part was the red clip.

Was your coolant level Gauge not working right when you had this problem
@fonziezavala77064 ай бұрын
It was working fine. After I shut off the vehicle the fans kept running. That's when I knew something was up.

You are life saver. Same YMD (Year Make Model). I need to replace the same sensor. I will update once done. Did you disconnected the battery cables before starting).

I can not get that red clamp off the sensor. Am I supposed to push down on that little black piece in the middle of the red clamp that you showed on the video? This part is tough
@fonziezavala77065 жыл бұрын
The red clip will not come out completely, but you should be able to pull it back some. When you have the red clip pulled back, place a flat head screw driver on the black tab with one hand, push down a bit firmly, and while holding the black tab down, use your other hand to pull the whole harness out. It took me a couple tries before I got it.

@@fonziezavala7706 ..... Hey thanks.... I got it out. Now I got the 3/4 inch socket but it didn't fit over the sensor like on your video. I'm going to see if they have a longer one at AutoZone in the morning. I take it they come in longer lengths, correct?

Thanks to you I was able to get this job done. did you have to reset anything for your engine light to turn off? Because mine for some reason is still on. But I haven't heard the fan blow like I used to and my air conditioning is staying on so far. Do you have any videos on changing the brakes on the 😉
@fonziezavala77065 жыл бұрын
@@itsintheword230 yes they should. I used the long sockets, not the short.
@fonziezavala77065 жыл бұрын
@@itsintheword230 As soon as I turned my vehicle on the engine light went away. Take it to auto zone so they can check the code. If your getting the same code, it could be a faulty sensor, or one of the harnesses that u disconnected to get to it might not be plugged in all the way. I did not have issues after the repair. I have not had to perform a brake job on it yet, I bought this vehicle brand new in 2015. The only issues I've had to tackle so far are this sensor, & I had to replace the passenger headlight a few months back because it went out. It's been a great vehicle so far.

How did you know the coolant temperature sensor was bad? How was it acting? Thank you

On 2014 Buick Enclave it revved the engine by itself when I was idling and then my engine light came on got it checked two different places and they said it was the engine temperature sensor.

Fonzie, do you know if that will fix code p118 and p119. 16 buick enclave temp gauge goes up and down and AC don't turn on.

I'm having the same code come up P118 and was told it was the temperature sensor $30 part....I'm looking to get mines fixed soon on a 2014 Buick Enclave.

@@CurlyToeChronicles it fixed my problem, now it stays stable. Coolant temperature sensor will be your part

Out of curiosity, what were the faults that came with the bad sensor? Dead gauge or possibly AC inoperable?

Ahh so it would always assume the vehicle was hot im guessing. Mine is intermittently not registering on the gauge and ac wont come on when it does. Haven't noticed fan running. Im assuming the ECT sensor is faulty.

@@camarochris071 Hi, I have the same issue in a 2013 Enclave, there will be a High Temperature warning in the OD, but the Engine Temp stays cool, the A/C stops running due to this, I have turn off the car and wait a a minute and then start the car again, the issue will be gone, but it has been happening more often lately...

I changed the ETC sensor yesterday so i guess we will see how it goes
@fonziezavala77064 жыл бұрын
After reading judge dredds comment... I just realized that before the sensor went out my a/c would stop blowing cold air from time to time. I remember I would have to turn off vehicle and turn it on for the a/c to kick in and start blowing cold again. I have not had that problem since i changed the sensor so that could be another fault.

Video sucked. "This little black thing, this little silver thing." Meanwhile, everything around it was black or silver. So, chaotic.
