I have been replacing my own brakes for 50 years, yes 50 years. When I am working on a car, I have never done before I look for a video for tips. Your video is one of the best I have ever viewed. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I will now do the brake job on my daughters Encore with added confidence that it will be done correctly.

Came here to double check things before replacing pads on my 2015 Regal. Only done this once before with a 2005 Pontiac, wanted to make sure there were no surprises in store for me. Anyway, good information here, thanks for putting it up.

If, when removing a caliper bracket, and you can't get enough leverage,(usually happens when working with a jack instead of a lift), turn the steering wheel towards the side your working on. It make for allot more range of movement

Good video but at 12:26 you say the torque on the wheel lugs are 140 ft. lbs. That seams a little high. I think its more like 100ft. lbs..

Makes me incredibly nervous seeing someone with their leg under the car while having to use extra effort to remove a bolt. My jack from my old car collapsed when I did that once, just barely got out from under it in time.
@PilotViewProductions

Me too Michael. That's why you see me always stress using a safety jack in addition to the factory jack as I did here at 1:38. I had my Mercedes (a much heavier car than this Buick) roll off the factory jack years ago just as I was pulling my legs out from under it. It's safety jacks from then on. Thanks for viewing. Dean

Nicely produced video! It is clear you took some time to edit and it really shows. A few questions: Is the caliper free hanging once removed? If so, aren't you worried about the strain that puts on the brake line that connects to the caliper? Also, why not use permatex or something similar on the bracket before installing the hardware and on the back of the pads? Did you relubicate the caliper slide pin? I might have missed that.
@PilotViewProductions
@PilotViewProductions 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan. Thanks for viewing and the recognition of production and editing time. Normally, I would hang the caliper from a coat hanger, but in the case of the 'front' brake pad video, if you noticed, I lifted the caliper up and set it on top of the linkage for video clarity. It was seated really well and I wasn't worried about it falling. Please check out the video I have on the rear pads for suspension by coat hanger in a more precarious location. Permatex would have been a better material than what I used, for sure. I really hate that CRC stuff. It's just that I bought so blooming much of it in that bright pink bottle, I'm trying to use it all up! I did not lubricate the caliper slide pin but it would have been nice if I had. Dean
