2015 Chevrolet Spark Oil Change NO JACK OR RAMPS

I demonstrate how to easily change oil in a 2015 Chevy Spark without the use of a jack. I assume you know the basics of an oil change, i.e. that the filter and the oil must be changed and that a filter screws off and on, etc. FYI, you may not need the filter socket if you have extremely small hands.

If you do need a few inches clearance, dive the car up on a pair of 2x4s a couple feet long, layed FLAT on the ground. Gives enough room to get your upper body beneath the car.

you could hammer up a screwdriver into the filter to loosen it up, kinda messy but it works.

What’s the part number for the oil filter? Does the oil have to be synthetic. I heard the boys at valvoline oil change shop charge $60 for their oil filter.

Fram part number is PH11462, other filter manufacturers have different designations. Fram recommends using this filter with conventional oil which brings us to your next question about synthetic. I did not run synthetic in mine; whether or not you should is a mix of personal preference and manufacturer's recommendation. For me it was a little too expensive to justify using in this application.

The clearance on a 2021 is 6.5 inches. I use ramps. Makes quick work of an oil change.

Hey Sparky! I did my first oil change in 1974, and being in the trucking industry for 30 years have quite a bit more understanding of compliance, see you have to know what your doing to get a million miles out of an engine, including using compliant lubricants, and sending them off to the labs occasionally, aside from some fuck knuckle, that never read his owners manual!

Some of us are not 140 lb pencil necks, so yes I use ramps, which adds 1 minute to the job.

Good luck if you have a failure under warranty! Oh and that money savings by not using synthetic required oil? Well since in average use the spark should not need an oil change for about 10k miles and up to a year in service, that $1 a month saving on a 5 Qt container, really isn't too wise!

Just think of all those offices full of expertly-trained warranty agents perusing KZbin night and day just waiting for someone to slip up and post some evidence of warranty violation so they can deny your future claim.
