The Ford Fiesta is the best selling car in the UK and for good reason! A well balanced chassis and funky looks have kept it at the top. I got a 5 door Fiesta 2017 1.0 ecoboost 66 plate in deep impact blue and I love it, broke the bank just under £8000 but so worth it. And everything you said is completely true. I was 19 when I got it and the insurance was cheap just under £1000 with my parents on as drivers. I fully recommend this car for anyone.

@@liamcarpangler4032 mine is 100hp might sound low but with a turbo it's very nippy and gets up to speed very well and I love it. 1.25 is 80hp. If you wanted a sportier one then you can get a zetec s that can be 180hp. Depends if you want a sporty car or not. Like I said 100hp is enough and can handle its own.

"Visibility is great all round", really? I thought most reviewers were unhappy about the small rear window and the very wide pillars. I drove this very model as a rental car in Croatia this year and it was OK, but I would not call visibility great. To the front and the sides: yes. But rear visibility? No.

I'm 55 and have driven alot and owned cars up to 400 bhp , driven the wifes eco boost 16 plate fiesta , and in my opinion the gears are to long , I dont change till 45 from second to 3rd as it labours , apart from the gearing issue , great little car .. cheers shane uk

I test drove the 1 liter and the 1.6 turbo. I like the 1.6 but the seats in the ST are not very practical. They don't sell too many ST here because the people who can afford it can't fit in the narrow seats. Narrow seats and rush hour traffic does not work together.

I've had my Fiesta for almost 3 years and the only issue was a dead battery but in the UK our Fiestas are built by ze Germans hence their reliability is much better :)

I have the 1.25 version with 82hp. Nice car and reasonably powerful if you drop a few gears. 0-30 is very quick. Only gripe is I wish it would have a 6 gear go calm the revs down at higher speeds

Nelson Graber the ecoboost mode is the setting that turns the engine off when the car comes to a stop and the brake/clutch is deployed in a manuel transmission ford. this is why there's two batteries in the car (weighnig 20 pounds each). but in 2017, ford are releasing an electric supercharger to compliment the small turbo on the 3 cylinder engine. so the second battery will be needed after all. ford is expexting 243 whp for this version of the engine.

Not quite sure what you mean about a 6th gear for more tranquillity. That 5th gear gives the car a theoretical top speed of about 180mph, an even taller 6th gear would be a bit pointless unless the ratios were altered altogether. I've owned mine for nearly 2 years. Cruises at 70mph at 2,500 rpm, a good 1,000rpm lower that the 1.25 82ps petrol version. At 60mph for best possible mpg and we're at 2,000rpm. Any lower than that and you're out of the turbo's threshold.

For highway miles a 6th gear would be great since you get lower revs --> engine uses less petrol etc etc

I understand that an extra, higher, gear will reduce rpm at a given speed. My point is that the 5th gear of the 100 and 125ps models is already very high. A 6 speed gearbox with the same final ratio as the current 5 speed would be an improvement, but if the cruising speed rpm were dropped much lower with an extra gear the little turbo would have to work very hard all the time, for the sake of a coupe of hundred rpm and a heavier gearbox. It probably wouldn't make much difference in the end.

I own the 125ps version. Mine is most definitely a 5 speed manual. There's also the "powershift" gearbox, an automatic, that is 6 speed. That works very well with the turbo, keeping it spooled through the gear changes. Mine loses all boost between changes (though it is currently tuned to 155bhp, modified using Pumaspeed parts and software). The extra torque and power is great with the long gearing of the 5 speed.

I have the 1.25 82bhp model and it has very short gearing. 70 mph in 5th gear its at 3,000 rpm, not very good for the fuel consumption. It drinks petrol like there is no tomorrow.

Slater nater I've had the 1.0l 123 bhp ecoboost for a month now and the engine and chassis are my major gripes. ....They are that good I can't drive it conservatively, so if you get one be prepared to tear up Fords official fuel consumption sheet. Brilliant little car, delivers in all areas..

Slater nater Reliability isn't bad at all, but it could be argued that the interior plastics could be better. This model isn't far off being replaced, so expect the next generation to offer a more premium interior like the new Mazda 2.

Slater nater I'm not sure about the rest of the range but my Titanium is German built and the fit & finish is excellent. Long term reliability is yet to be proven. It isn't the most spacious boot wise in the class, but the driving dynamics make up for that. It's a lot of fun to drive.

A few seconds of hearing your voice and the way you talk is similar to Clarkson. May you one day host Top Gear... Anyway, I am going to get one of these (although one of the Titanium models) once I have passed my test. Yeah, new car as my 1st car, but heck, its a great car and I cannot be arsed to go through the hassle of having an old clunky unreliable mess that costs far more to run and lacks most of what this car has. Plus, I live in London which has the ultra low emissions zone rubbish coming soon, and the congestion charge and road tax do not apply to this car.

Yeah, having sat in the front (but not at the wheel... yet...) of a 2016 1.6 ecoboost Ford Focus estate and being impressed at how well it handles and moves I am very much looking forward to a nice shiny fiesta. Ford has really improved over the years, specially the Fiesta and Focus models.
