This Figo is faster than your Figo but yours handles way way better. I used to own the old Figo, and have driven the new Figo for a couple of trips. If I had to pick between the two, I'd take the old TDCi and remap it somehow.

I got my blue new Figo on 19.02.16 after being convinced by this vedio. Till today (25.10.18) i drove around 88350 kms. I am fond of driving and i made the best decision buying this car. I mostly drive on highways and i get a mileage around 20kmpl and 17-18 in the city. Dint face any major issues as of now

Originally in older Figo it did not have the sedan sibling. But im sure slowly you would see more numbers once better discounts start flowing in.

+KKC On A-Motive : Hi Karan, had a query for you, posted to tbhp as well on the Figo official review thread. When your up-shifting, say at a moderate speed of above 60kmph, when you depress the clutch to change the gear the rpm levels don't come down linearly to the idling rpms, they stay at say 2000rpm (again this varies as per your speed whilst upshifting) for a fraction of a second and then go down to your idling rpm. Have you experienced this on your Figo as well? Little worried about this behavior, let me know please.

Congrats, well that issue i haven't noticed. But the quality levels of interior and such insulation parts you can never expect VW / German / Japanese level quality from Ford. But still get it checked at the service centre they may have a solution.

Super review sir. I have a question I'm getting the Figo in a couple of months. When you replaced the factory installed tyres with custom ones, will that void the warranty and affect the mileage?

+amarpreet panesar - Thanks ! See if you go and ask them before changing they will always object. But if you practically think then obviously the tyre change doesnt affect the engine and gearbox or electricals so that part of the warranty remains safe, only thing which will be in question is the suspension warranty which is debatable and anyway before your suspension wears out you'd have clocked atleast 75k kms. Mileage drop with wider tyres will be max 1-1.5 km/l max. Hope this solves your question :)

+Anmol Sahota - The tyres are Continental Max Contact 5, they are made in India so pretty much adaptable for bad roads. Overall they are a comfort + Performance (Touring spec) tyres. Exact tyre size of upgrade is 195/55 R15

Two questions though - didn't u find the suspension to be too jumpy for enthusiastic driving ? also I read on teambhp u were planning on adding ICE. can u somehow show a pic of how the new HU looks on the dashboard ? Thanks - The ride is not as flat as older figo when you are driving enthusiastically. BUT after the tyre upgrade it has improved. I dont think i have said on team bhp about upgrading the ICE. I just out in parking sensors as that was required. IMO ICE /Music Quality is good for a car in this segment. if you want better then you can replace the speakers.

Also the Figo has an increased ground clearance compared to old one which had bottoming out issues ( now GC is 174 mm) so it should be suitable for bad roads too.

I'm back again, my figo has completed 2000km, have taken an appointment for first service center on feb 20, rattling in the dash, vibration somewhere in the front especially when not accelerating, I went speed up to 160km/h and it didn't feel like the car was revved hard but it was definitely not as smooth as a petrol car yet the car was well planted to the ground, I have not changed the stock tires/rims, did you had to deal with any rattling in your figo trend?

Well if you are a FAST driver then id suggest you to go in for Titanium as it has ABS which is a psychological advantage while driving fast & really helpful during those emergency situations on concrete / cement roads. Thanks for your appreciation, well i truly believe the Abarth Punto @ 3L more price is so much more value than the Figo S. Handling, steering of Punto Abarth is definitely way superior and so more fun to drive. BUT if you want to stick to a FAST Diesel then Figo S is good enough.

Hi Buddy. i really like your review. Most of the indian reviews doesnt have fun quotient in there reviews but you brought it by that drag race with vw. I would love you to add "Pete’s Tuning Box" in your review which might bump 20 more horses in it and you can add/remove tune box really fast when your are in racing mood. Btw you have good engineering knowledge too "winks " hahaha. I have some critics too 1. you didnt showed up boot/dash/rear seats etc. 2. Fuel efficiency in city with normal driving. Add up few more interesting concepts that we can do with our cars. i am cars fan too... & i work in Steel Plant. i always hope that i could some interesting reviews myself too or work with people like you hahahaha..... good work man. keep doing

no doubt it's a lovely Car.. it's a beast in that segment and also can out to shame a few more in the upper segment. The diesel engine in the figo is a monster, without compromising the fuel efficiency. I liked your review about the car too.

Pretty good review !!! And absolutely agreed its really fast and has pretty good breaking system as well. I bought it in Jan and have run it about 5000 km and its a joy apart from the gear box (only if you want to change gears in an jiffy)and the low quality plastics used in the car. Dude you are right 15 inches wheels with better tires should do wonders to the grip and handling and I have a hunch it would drastically improve your ride quality as well, not that its bad in the existing set up..

+AKing009 - Thanks for your positive comments. 1) Aspire is currently the best compact sedan you can buy. But if you dont need a boot u can might as well go in for the Figo hatch as dimensionally its the same inside as the aspire but overall the hatch looks better than the sedan aspire. 2) Zest being a Tata you cant expect much other than tremendous VFM which it offers. Features etc are OK but overall performance, build quality etc will never be as good as the rivals. YES the ASS will be cheap. 3) You can expect pricing to be 3-5 % cheaper than the Ecosport.

+swanand patil - Thanks ! There should be no problem whatsover with warranty of the engine & gearbox and other such under the hood parts. The only warranty which 'may' be affected is the suspension based warranty. The suspension will anyway last longer than your next tyre upgrade. So its perfectly fine for you to do this upgrade.

+Vineeth Govind - Thanks Vineeth, appreciate your comments. See if you go and ask them before changing they will always object. But if you practically think then obviously the tyre change doesnt affect the engine and gearbox or electricals so that part of the warranty remains safe, only thing which will be in question is the suspension warranty which is debatable and anyway before your suspension wears out you'd have clocked atleast 75k kms. Hope this solves your question :)

+Jigyasu Arya - Thanks Jigyasu. 1) 185/65 R14 will be a decent upgrade & sufficient if the tyre compound is good (Michelin / Continental / Yokohama brands) 2) Baleno id suggest only if you want the petrol option as the Diesel (Multijet) is too old now and feels underpowered. 3) i20 elite is a good option too but in my opinion has become way too common today on Indian roads. So please chose between the Figo & i20 elite All the Best :)

Hello karan sir that was one stupendous presentation than any other reviews I have seen so far.I own Ford figo tdci(old version) and a swift zdi,a avid reader of TEAM BHP and following your thread regularly and I am quite surprised the tweaks that has been done by Ford on a new figo tdci and I just test drove and felt like a pocket rocket which is scarily fast like the kind of acceleration and turbo spooling I have felt only after driving polo gt tdi ..a quick question I have..how feasible is to swap new figo engine to the old one? Or trade off my swift zdi to Ford figo tdci?please suggest.

Fuel Economy would have marginally decreased but isnt really that much of a downer, but if you had to quantify then there would be a 1 - 1.5 km/l drop. Still i manage a overall FE of 16 km/l in city highway mix. I have managed as high as 27 km/l but thats with too slow driving & calculative braking & acceleration. Realistically in normal driving 22-23 km/l is achievable on highway runs even after the upgrade.

+Ronak Gohel - Thanks Ronak. 1) There wont be any performance gain if you upgrade the wheel (only if the wheels are lighter than stock then it may be adding the the weight saving & that may minutely improve performance) 2) Wider tyres may reduce the FE but the improvements in handling, looks and ride will make u forget the minor FE drop.

+teg khatri - Ford service is getting better. I own the Ecosport (A/T) as well & im pretty satisfied with their overall effort to be more adaptable for mass market demand & economics. Also the spares are getting cheaper and readily available than how it was during FORD IKON days :)

thanks man.....Excellent review...!!! in some user reviews i have read that it is having some problem with 'acceleration'...the said problem s you are in high speed and happns to apply break a little for some reason...now rpm comes down and now if you try to accelerate it...it wont...this problem would be dangerous if it happens during overtaking ....did you experience the same problem with your figo ??? also let me know the build quality of car and the service cost...

This new Figo is like the mass market Hyundai & Marutis you see. Id suggest you visit your Ford dealer & take a proper test drive to get to know more. All the best !

+Ankit G - Thanks Ankit ! The 1.2 petrol makes 87 hp & 112 NM of Torque. Overall the engine is very refined and good on driveability . Under load you might have to downshift a lot compared to higher torque rated Diesel. Fuel Economy is decent @ 18 km/k (ARAI tested) If buying the Figo the choice of engine should be the Diesel or the 1.5 Petrol (A/T)

Hi Karan, First of all congrats on the purchase of that little demon. Apart from the sound of the camera (not due to wind, maybe fixing was a little loose), your video was as entertaining and inspiring as it was informative. I have a few queries to ask, 1. Have you done some tweaking for the odo/speedo after the wheels upgrade ? surely, their reading will be less than accurate. 2. did you experience any scraping of tyres due to the upgrade ? 3. I am a learner and (hmmphh) vertically challenged at just under 5'3". I am OK with the swift seat height (brought forward but no height adjustment). Do you think I will be OK as far as clutch travel and forward visibility is concerned ?? (i saw in the review by Rehaan that shorter drivers (< 5'6") will have above problems.). 4. is it possible to increase the seat height through aftermarket solutions ? 5. is it possible to put height adjustable seat from higher trims in this car ? 6. did you check for the anti roll bars at front.? 7. finally, as a newbie, should i go with this monster instead of a more "sedate" alto/celerio/swift ? further, i have some confession to make. i downloaded this video in my ipad so that i have more "permanent" access to it. I shall delete the same if you feel uncomfortable. once again thanks a TONNe for the video. PS: its really frustrating trying to join Team-BHP. my applications keep getting rejected.
