Just did this on my 2018 Escalade ESV and this is the most helpful video. The only difference was that my starter had 2 screws attached to the heat shield.

THANK YOU for the video. Very helpful and easy to follow. Just changed my starter, started up effortlessly. The dam electrical connection was giving me a hard time. Just when I was ready to take a torch to it, I noticed that it was right next to the Wheel Hub cover. *** TIP: For easy access to Starter Electrical Connections, Remove Wheel Hub Cover (probably a dozen easily accessible screws). With the cover removed, ALL electrical connections are unobstructed. Electric disconnected from starter in under a min. Assembled just as easy... Thank you once again.

Replaced a starter today and I ran into the same issue with the connector being "brittle". Do you have a link or part number for this replacement part? TIA

My 2017 gmc Yukon has sorta the same problem no crank no start already replaced starter, battery, starter rely thinking it could be something electrical or maybe the alternator? The alternator did stay running for some odd reason after turning it off one day. HELP

I have a 2015 Denali when I push the button it clicks one time and won't start. Battery voltage is fine it was replaced about a year ago. Would you think it's the starter?

I have a 2015 GMC Yukon, the battery was replaced about a month ago. It started great this morning, and it doesn't start now, everything works except starting. Did you have to remove the wheel or jack up the car to get to the starter?
@DantheFixitMan Жыл бұрын
No, I was able to do this without removing the wheels or jacking up the vehicle. Just make sure the vehicle is in park, and or the parking brake is secure. Thanks for watching. Best of luck to you! -Dan the Fix it Man

It is certainly easier to pull the front passenger wheel. You have a lot more room to work. Also easier to pull the inner fender.

Did you remove the tire and wheel well? Or just clump on in as is? I’m having a heck of a time with it
@DantheFixitMan Жыл бұрын
No, I didn't remove the tire or wheel well. I did have a hard time with the electrical connections, but once I got that done, I was able to wiggle the starter out and put the new one in. Sorry you're having trouble with it, best of luck to you. -Dan the Fix it Man

I have a 2015 Denali and recently had to replace the engine due to misfiring cylinders. Since its been replaced, about a month ago, the truck has run great until just recently when i went to start it and the power came on in terms of dashboard, electrical, etc but the engine made no noise whatsoever when trying to turn it over. I need to replace the battery, but both mechanics ive seen have said its got enough juice to start an engine. Any idea what this could be? One mechanic said it was the PCM and the vehicle was in anti theft lock mode from the engine replacement, but i find that hard to believe that it would take a month for that to kick in. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
@DantheFixitMan Жыл бұрын
I think you're correct in the unlikely chance that it's an immobilizer issue or anti theft issue because it has run great for a month up until now. If the battery voltage is low (you mentioned that it needed to be replaced) that may also be the problem. I would also double-check all your battery connections and the wires and connections to the starter to make sure that's not the issue. These starters tend to be pretty intermittent when they go out. You can also try hitting the starter with something like a small hammer, or tapping it with a long extension and that can sometimes be enough to get it to start again. Best of luck to you, let me know if you get it figured out. Thanks for watching, -Dan the Fix it Man

Also, I believe on most GM vehicles, the anti theft does not prevent the engine from cranking...

@@DantheFixitMan Awesome thanks! I am going to go attempt the hammer trick now. Regarding the battery, that was my initial thought and i had someone come out to install a new battery and post-install they tried to turn it over and the same result. Whoever came out clearly led me astray cause they said my battery had plenty of juice left and then today the 2nd mechanic said its 3+ years old and has a little juice left but needs to be replaced...
