2015 Honda Civic Tail Light Mod

This video is how to change your tail lights and to show it can be done without the need to install a different wire harness. I try to show them in the day and night so you can make a better decision on if you want to make the jump on your next project.

Hi, I just installed these. Thanks for the tutorial. Did you add any weather sealing? I know it came with the rubber/foam material in the back but am worried it will leak. Also, did the blue cable for the main lamp not have a connector??

I did not and no leaks so far 🤞it’s been a few years and still love them

The back carpet is just held on with clips and the lights are just bolted in

No it just acts as a normal turn signal

Does the 13 have the double or single tail lights? If double then I don’t see why not but single you would def need to do more research

Yeah I didn’t have to do any of that. I just had a little plug that didn’t have anywhere to connect to. The taillights have been great on my end

5:59, what is that light for. I know the 2 big lights are turn signal and tail with break light. What’s the small one then?

I never found out. It might be a loop back for if a bulb goes out or a small parking light but the new tail light doesn’t use it. They have worked great without it

GenRock! If I had to guess a loop back. If a light bulb went out in your tail light the current would bypass through that sending you a notification on your dashboard to let you know it was out

I had a burn out bulb before at the tailight, never gave me any warning.

As long as your tail light setup is similar to my old one it should work just fine.

I have no leaks in my trunk so far and it’s been over a year. It’s a pretty good fit

The ones that require the wire harness are the 9th gen Civic Hybrid LED tailights, the OEM ones. Just normal aftermarket taillights do not require a new wiring harness.

You should upgrade your 3rd brake light to an led as well. That should be a 7440 or 7443. I'd grab a 7443 to be on the safe side. Better to have 2 more terminals and not need them than to need 2 more terminals and not have them.

It most likely would depend on what area you live in. My area it was legal.

has no reason to be illegal if ur blinkers n break lights are working fine so ur good
