Pro Tip: If the small black panel does not sit flush, don't worry. Pop it back out and try snapping it back into place again. It may take a few tries to get it in flush. Dude, you saved my life. I had my windscreen replaced on Saturday. I don't know why the guy took the pillars out for that. Both plastics were loose. I don't want him near my car again. I have a busy afternoon ahead, but I so happy I found this video to fix it myself.

I'm guessing he removed the A-Pillar and used a heat gun to soften up the glue or adhesive material that bonds the windshield to the car. I'd assume you could do that from the front though? Glad to help put your car back in working order.

I don’t have a fit but ‘18 accord. It’s very important to run wires behind the infamous side airbags in the a pillars. People can run at the top but that’s dangerous as that will interfere with deployment of airbag at over 200 mph of force yikes 😬. You clearly showed us every detail and did it more than once lol at other angles for us to understand thanks for that! Now I know how to run behind the airbags. I plan to mount a dash cam just like you but do we have to remove the negative off the battery to be safe or not necessary? I’m a little nervous of that airbag 😳

It is recommended to disconnect the battery while working on or around the air bag. Newer Honda Fits and I'm assuming your Accord, will have a similar but yet different tab shown @5:00

Hi there, at first I just tucked the wire into the headliner and ran it all the way to the back of the car. I eventually removed my headliner and did a better job running the wire to the back. My issue now is "Where to mount the rear camera?" I like to go camping in my car, and when I do, I usually put window inserts in the windows for privacy. So I'll need to come up with another mounting solution besides the back window.
@bertbile
@bertbile 7 ай бұрын
@@HondaFit4Adventurethanks for the reply. I fitted it myself few months ago, just hid the in the headliner above windscreen then tucked in across the top pillar cover and along under top door seals to back, rear camera mounted just below hi level brake light. Dunno where you could mount your rear cam if you’re gonna put stuff on back window, only thing can suggest is a cabin view rear cam attached to front main cam, but anything on back window might obscure its view, good luck

Great video man. Do you need to do something special when removing pillar trims with airbags safety-wise? Like removing the battery? Or are these trims clear from the airbags and safe to work around them?

The cover for my daughter's 2018 Fit popped off, and I removed it using your amazing video. To reconnect the top tab, though, my setup is different - I have 2 black squares connected with a thin nylon rope. I added this comment an hour or so ago with a link to a photo of it in iCloud, but it looks like it was removed. I can't figure out how to connect the part that slides into the cover to the tab that pushes in at the top. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sick video man! Is it possible to tuck the dashcam wires underneath the airbag without triggering it and without removing the A panel? I do not want breaking any plastic bits and especially I do not want triggering the bag
@HondaFit4Adventure
@HondaFit4Adventure Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's possible to tuck the wire behind the A-Pillar without removing it, but it will be pretty hard to feed it behind the actual airbag. What ever way you try it's best practice to disconnect the battery first to prevent triggering the airbag.

My 2020 fit also has that same clip, I was able to take the whole thing off and it looks like its like a one time thing so it’s broken. I’ll be using some sort of glue and see if it hold up but if not I’ll have to buy a replacement clip.

No I have not. Is it by your windshield or somewhere around the door area? I would try removing or adjusting the weather stripping around the door. It may not be seated correctly. If you have water coming in by your windshield you may have a different problem or leak.

Hi Shaon, I purchased it from Amazon. amzn.to/3zQHSRV I think the suction cup mount also had an adhesive backing. That is why it is stuck to my window. Once it stuck on, I don't think you can move easily.

My passenger A pillar has been loose since I got the car. Didnt see it and it just pops off. I can tuck it in but it just pops out after a day. I am so afraid to try and pull it off because this car is truly the worst hunk of metal of a car I ever owned. The car is just falling apart at only 5 years old. I have done everything I can to baby it, and it just keeps slapping me in the face. I have a huge water leak now in my rear passenger door. Been a incredibly terrible ownership experience. Never buying a "cheap" car again and probably never buying a Honda again. Im not sure what to do with this tin can atm.

Your car may only be 5 years old, but your already at 90k miles. The average owner drives 13,500 miles a year. Your about 25k miles over what your should be at. Besides the A-Pillar, all of your issues have been pretty minor. -The heat shield or Axle cover rattling. (Tighten or Replace the bolt) I live in the MidWest where we salt the roads during winter causing lots of rust on various parts of the car. A bolt breaking due to rust and causing a rattle is fairly common but an easy fix. -The water leak in your rear door is caused by the the rubber trim not being properly seated. Run your hand along the rubber trim that's on the frame of the car and make sure it's properly seated along the edges. I can probably turn this into a video. -I never heard of the seat not folding down, but I did look it up on KZbin and it does seem to be an issue on some Hondas. My rear seats have been removed so I've never run across this problem unfortunately. May I ask what state you live in? If youyourre close, I'll have to stop by on my next road trip and examine your FIT. I don't think it's as bad as your making it out to be, or I would start questioning your Honda Dealership. I mean, they sold you a car with loose A-pillar right?
@baronvonjo1929

@HondaFit4Adventure I bought the car used but didnt think it wpuld be a big deal as every car we own has been used because they are unaffordable brand new. I will freely state that the previous owner didn't take the best of the care of it. But I have issues that are no way part of the previous owners actions and just poor build quality. I expected a lot because all the Toyotas we have owned had good build quality. This car feels like just basic use will cause things to break off. It just not a solid car. It's completely unexcusable. I did run my hand over the seal and couldn't find anything noteworthy. When it rains there is a puddle basically on top of the bottom portion of the seal in the doorway and it begins leaking into the car. I have always been very loving to my cars and I want to enjoy them. But this car feels like even touching it something will break off. It's honestly my fault for thinking a cheap car is actually a serious option. I ignored the small faults that I thought were minor because I had hearts in my eyes for the thing. Those small faults should have been red flags in how fragile the car was. I just assumed being a Honda and building cars for decades and their reputation that it would be bullet proof. I live in SC. The car was based in NC before my ownership. I feel at its current rate of decay this car will be the worst financial mistake of my life so far. Only had it for 6 months and at the rate new issues appear I doubt it will live on past 8 years old. I'm stuck with the car atm. Need to wait a year before hopefully getting something much more reliable.
