Today, here in rainy Washington, I will go out and do the front doors. i needed a refresher on removing the panels and yours is absolutely the best I have watched. GREAT video.. Just completed mine. Thank you for the post! A couple of notes.. 1) 2016 doesn't have the "extra" nut on the passenger side, at least mine didn't. 2) It's SO stressful pulling the old moldings off, it sounds awful but everything will be ok. 3) Stubborn me, I didn't want to take the door panel off for 1 nut. SO with a pen magnet, and the tension of the door panel itself, you can literally "pull it off". Slightly pull the corner near the lowest nut, get a 10mm wrench in there to break it loose. THEN thread it off towards the end, ( it is tapered, so don't go crazy pushing your luck) then add the magnet and thread by hand the rest of the way. The tension of the panel in conjunction with the magnet CAN keep it from falling off completely. Same thing in reverse, with the magnet, maneuver it over the taper while pulling on that corner, once over the taper, you can catch a couple of threads, remove the magnet, THEN thread away. Pull the corner for a little more clearance and torque it down... 4) At the time of writing this, Honda has the fronts on a "unknown time frame Backorder". Found mine on eBay, a few more dollars, but hey! IF the nut falls down, you were going to take the door panel off anyways before seeing this comment! It's an easy fix, and gets rid of the dry rot moldings! Thank you again sir!

Seems Honda has parts for Odysseys on backorder all the time!! I actually searched Honda dealers country wide to find mine. Ordered from 3 different places to get them all!!! Cost me nearly $200 for all, but at least I got them. SOMEWHERE, a dealer MAY have them on a shelf...now, if I could only find some rear coil springs. noone in the USA has them right now.

Thanks for going to the effort to share this. Your info is good for all Oddy's in the 2011 through 2017 range. Removing the front door panels isn't too hard and definitely makes dealing with the mirrors much easier. It's old trim is pretty tough to get out so non-scratch tools are handy. The black tabs on the ends of the new trim pieces make sure everything is lined up correctly on the door so there's little worry about it being put on badly. I also took advantage of the door panels being off to replace the door armrest covers as well. Here's an extra note about removing the mirrors. That very top nut (where the bolt hole is not fully enclosed) doesn't have to be removed. I don't know what it holds, but it's not the mirror. The mirror only needs to bottom three removed (or so it was in my case on a 2011). This video should be available to help others for at least another decade. Kudos.

When I removed the bottom nut I used a magnet to hold it and did not lose it. When you put it back on you will have to pry the side of the door panel a bit and again use the magnet. I bought four M6 x 1.0 flanged nuts just in case but did not need them.

Just did my 2015 Odyssey passenger door. There's another video on KZbin where the person carefully slides the molding under the mirror and doesn't remove anything inside the car. My molding had an end cap and clip, where as his didn't, so mine couldn't be slid under the mirror. I don't know if he removed those parts or if it was an after market molding. On my car, I did NOT remove the interior of the door. I removed the plastic cover inside the car behind the mirror and carefully using a small 10 mm wrench and a MAGNET was able to remove the bottom nut. It took a couple of minutes. I used the magnet on the other nuts as well, as I didn't want them falling inside the door. Supporting the mirror loosely with a bungee cord I was easily able to get the molding in place. Once I had the molding lined up, it practically installed itself with a little pressure. Getting the bottom nut back on with the magnet and one finger was a bit more challenging, but I managed to get it done quickly. Molding looks great! Window and mirror are working fine. By the way, there's are belt molding removal tool out there for those who might want to remove the molding intact, that does require removing the interior of the door I do believe.

Thanks! It was a lot of hassle to work on the paint. I washed really well first with a foam canon and Adams car wash shampoo. Then I used a DE-Iron spray, like Iron-X or any of the iron sprays. The stuff is nasty, follow the instructions. Then I used a clay bar really well. Then I pulled into the garage on a cool day and I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, then Meguiar's Polish. And my favorite spray wax of all time - Duragloss Aquawax 951. I also used Mission Automotive Dielectric grease / silicone paste on all of the seals around the doors. It's easy to do and makes the seals supple and like new. Amazing stuff. Next I'll be changing the door checkers... the part that holds the door open and keeps it it from closing in your face. Both doors are worn out.

It’s almost impossible to remove the mirror without pulling the panel. Technically you could reach the bottom mirror bolt with some great fineness but it’s likely it will be dropped … causing the panel removal anyway

Hi Jay! Hey, on the door weathstripping having just a slot at the front of them instead of a big black clip, do you think the weatherstripping could be horizontally pulled from the rear of the weatherstripping to remove? I saw something similar on an Accord youtube video. If that doesn't work, can the mirror be loosened and just dangle from the 2 longer bolts to give enough room? I was wondering why 2 of 3 mirror bolts are longer. Thanks!

I don’t think it will work that way like it does on the accord. As to the mirror, it’s worth a try but it doesn’t seem it would save much in labor. I believe you would still need to loosen the lower bolt

The front L door molding is unavailable anywhere these days. The status was backordered and TBD. Anyone know alternative parts? maybe from other model years or from other honda models (i.e. honda accord)

Don't try another vehicle. An Odessey body is not an Accord body. I kept searching honda OEM part dealers until I finally found the part. Probably 20th site on a Google search.

I bought 3M black vinyl on Amazon and wrapped mine. They came out great! Much better than the chrome look. And the vinyl has held up really well! Just be sure to get the 3M “series 1080, wrap film”. That’s the GOOD stuff! I wrapped all the chrome on the front grill too 👍🏼

I tried this on my 2014 odyssey and the thin layer of painters tape removed all the paint from the top side of the door. Do not use a lightly applied strip of painting tape!!!

I knew white vans have known paint issues, but I never would have thought painters tape would be enough to take up paint. There is a long standing feud over peeling Honda white paint.

The door panels remove very easily. Just look for the notch at the bottom of the panel by the light. That's the spot.
