Good job hunting down the short to ground. Too bad you didn’t catch it before replacing the solenoid but since they fail so frequently (due to lack of oil changes) I can’t really blame you for swapping it out. Well done!

Thanks! Haha, ya given the mileage of the vehicle I was pretty stunned when it didn't work... "How could you not work??" We didn't charge for time finding the short or repairing it so it all worked out in the end.

Excuse me, may i ask? After you replace the exhaust side vvt selenoid with the new one, did the car still stalling? Or succesfully idle? Mine 2012 tucson have same symptomp, stalling cannot idle..

@penjagakoskosan1292 Hi there! Yes, of course you may ask! This car did not fix itself by replacing the part. For this car it actually had a problem with damaged wiring. However this is pretty rare. Faulty VVT solenoids are VERY common. I've replaced MANY that were the only problem. Especially one Hyundai/Kia. The little screens get clogged.

@electric santi "reving up with exhaust vvt connected" Do you mean it revs up on its own? Like without you touching the accelerator pedal?

@electric santi No codes at all? Normally these are pretty good for setting some kind of code when there's a VVT issue.

@ellisdavis3200 Ya, those are pretty common to go on all cars really. Changed a ton of them on these Hyundais.
