Late to the upscale small SUV fray, the Lexus NX is far more than a fancy Toyota RAV4. Rather than typical Lexus plushness, the NX aims to be sporty and engaging. Engines include a new turbo four-cylinder and a hybrid.

I'd take this over an Audi Q5, Mercedes GLK 350, and BMW X3 anyday. Because.... 1. I'm sure it's the most Reliable. 2. Cost a little less. 3. Much easier to maintain then the other 3 above.

Absolutely agree 100%. I’ve owned BMW and Mercedes. They are both much less reliable and a money pit when it comes to service. The Lexus products are rock solid and Michele’s expensive to maintain?

I have had it for 2 weeks now, and I truly love this "sinister looking" smooth driving car. I am very happy with my hybrid version which, again, drives like silk, it's very silent and makes you wanna just sit ang get comfortable inside, take a nap and....stay in your garage! Way to go Lexus, this is most definitely a GREAT car!

I agree with Felix, quit with the faulty cable connection effects. And why are commentators moving to emulate Jeremy Clarkson with edgy, sarcastic presentations. I subscribe to CR for fact. Now CR seems to be trying to entertain than inform. The value of my CR membership is diminishing. I dont pay for your assessment of the styling. I can see it for myself and decide if the aesthetics appeal. You dont need to do that. Facts are what have made CR valuable in the past. Now you even skimp on those. Why are 6 gears not enough? Should it have a roadranger 32 speed box? Just saying only six speeds isn't valuable information. Many VW 7 speed DSG owners wish the had the more reliable 6 speed. A friend of mine bought a Mercedes B class (7 speed I think) and in the first 3 months it was back at Mercedes 4 times for repair including software update, then some solenoid adjustment to try to eliminate the rough changes. It's going OK now but last time I rode in it was still a bit clunky. Sometimes we consumers want a thing that works all the time. CR used to be about that.

I am a big Toyota and Lexus fan. I don't find these effects even slightly interesting. Quite annoying. They appear to be mistakes at first, later becoming clear they were purposeful - albeit foolish.

Sounds all good and looks great, but you cannot find an NX-300H for less than $49,000! For that amount, I might as well get an Audi Q5 premium package, Mercedes GLA premium package, or BMW X3 premium package.

I agree with you both. I said that, because Lexus selling point is - HEY, its a luxury car that competes with BMW X3, AUDI Q3-Q5 etc, for JUST $34k, and $38k for a hybrid. That is a no brainer, right?! But turns out that you cannot get the base car anywhere. The only NX-H you can get, is the one with every single gadget and option for $50k. So when you see the reality, then their selling point is not there anymore... it's technically true (the price), but a lie in reality. So it's actually cheaper to get a German car. Again - don't get me wrong - I prefer Lexus all the way, but it's not what Lexus is presenting to the general public.

Instead of focusing on developing a car that can rival BMW 3 series once and for all, they spend their time and energy building ultra expensive, exclusive cars. I am familiar with the European brands and their products, but the more I hear about the positive feedback regarding Lexus and the latest Mazdas, the more I want to try them. They must be doing something right and I am open-minded enough to figure it out what it actually is.

It is not the same platform as the RAV4. According to Lexus Vehicle Development Team the only thing that is shared is the cowl and the transmission. They further stated that more than 90% of the parts and components are in fact different from a RAV4. Also, what makes you think that the german’s 8 speed transmission is better than the Lexus 6speed. More does not equate to better. So Mr. Engineer how about you get your facts straight before you decide to make a video about a product you haven’t done your homework on. This is typical of Consumer Reports demonstrating a willingness to continue provide opinion vs. factual information. It has become increasingly difficult to believe any car review (or reviews of any other products) for that mattere coming from them.

They'll probably sell a pile of these, but after watching this twice, I come away wondering why you'd want it. The "sporty" aspirations of small SUV, the display looks like an afterthought, the controller, the dreadful red inserts in the leather seating, the tiny back seat, and I'll stop there.
