Christina Chenes, your voice has natural star quality, even before Dolora Zajick started her feedback. Look forward to catching you in performance. And Dolora Zajick--wow.

Marvellous qualities in this young singer's voice! I wish her the very BEST in opera!

What a beautiful voice Christina has. It has a quality like one was listening to a diva from the past. An individual sound, which is always a good thing and rather comforting to listen to. I wish her all the very best. Brava!

Her voice has A LOT of chest participation... That's why she has this way of singing similar to the singers of the old school of singing (which should be revived for the GOOD of the art of singing)...

Who EVER gets it "right" on the first go-round in a high-profile, public master class???? This is the equivalent of passing a stone live on Good Morning America! Everybody is watching you try to accomplish something that usually takes place in private! Geesh! Beautiful instrument and wonderful composure, Christina!!!!!! BRAVA!!!!!

The cruelest and most beautiful thing in singing is that it is never right. There’s always something that can be improved on and the feedback never stops. The opera star giving the masterclass by day is going through the ringer with their coach in the opera house by night….the feedback never stops.

How Dolora hit that Bb5 like it was nothing! Sounded just like a soprano. The soprano is very lovely. Wow

Something tells me that Dolora isn't really a mezzo. Something in the very color of the voice reminds me of a dramatic soprano, or even a spinto, who decided to dedicate himself to the mezzo repertoire.

She certainly got that tuvan focus with the tongue quickly.....I found this to be life changing for my voice...I only wish I had found it earlier! You won't hear about that resonance focus anywhere else that I'm aware of. Relatively rare info and absolutely priceless but only the daring will attempt ... those sold on the dogma of keeping the tongue totally relaxed will never feel the sensation....Eugene Fuechtinger also knew about this...he declared it was the hyoglossus muscle of the tongue that was responsible for what is being said here. I have been almost hoarse in my speaking voice and when applying this remedy which I believe stretches the vocal cords, my voice responds as if I were totally healthy!

Suggest Miss Chenes, who has a natural lovely quality, listen to BIDU SAYAO. Avoid the "big" tone since you have a delicate instrument.

The rebirth of Leontyne Price!!!...
@danafripp41208 жыл бұрын
No. The Unveiling of CHRISTINA CHENES. Stop doing this to every smoky-voiced, warm-skinned soprano that emerges on the scene. It's a pain in the butt to be compared to Price all the time. God is not stingy or short on ideas. He doesn't need to repeat Himself. Ms. Price was a unique entity, and rightfully celebrated for what she brought to the repertoire. Ms. Chenes has a unique vocal "fingerprint" and it deserves to be regarded for its own beauty. I think Ms. Price would be rather put out to hear someone put on the same footing as herself when she would encourage young singers to find their own place. Also, as of this posting, Madame Price is aged, but still among the living. So rebirth is out of the question.

On the word "speme" with the high note, her tongue is rigid which closes her pharynx and prevents the sound from blossoming as it could.

As a master class teacher, one hopse to open the singer to new ideas - and do it FAST. Sometimes that means making choice about what to concentrate on.
@caninbar8 жыл бұрын
And that's the fundamental problem with masterclasses. There are no quick answers to vocal development. Like personal development, the voice requires time to mature, and concentrating on mechanical problems should be a priority.

@@caninbar .....and, since there is no time to fix anything she shouldn't work on anything? And, how was this Master Class billed? Often times the class has a specific area/intention of concentration. .....just thought I'd ask 😉

Uneven vibrato is sign of support problems, as well as uncontrolled notes above the staff. She also has a weird ‘iu’ sound.

The problem with famous singers who teach is that they're not aware of the mechanics and diagnostics in helping a voice student correct vocal errors, they only know what they went through and their own voices.
@hamb48 жыл бұрын
Would you much rather a teacher who has never sung and has no idea of the sensations. Having a vocal Pedagogy does not mean one can teach, same way having a famous singer who has no idea of how they produce their own sound. It is all about the desired effect that one gets by imparting ones acquired knowledge and knowing what to listen for in the voice and trying to achieve it with different students with a plethora of temperaments.
@vxhorusxv7 жыл бұрын
You may be right in certain classes, but if you look into Ms. Zajick's life outside of her performances you'll see that she is an incredibly serious student of the voice. And her work through her foundation supporting large, dramatic voices like hers includes master vocal pedagogy as well as new scientific understanding of the voice. So, if anyone is going to give you the best of both worlds, it's probably going to be her.
