To make the test fair, both vehicles should have had the same kind of tires, so this was biased toward the MB with snow tires, so it was not an equal test. Redo the test with the same tires.

Hey guys, what a great way to show the difference between a snow tire and an all season tire. Most people do not realize that an all season tire is not truly meant for snow especially when it gets cold and the rubber compound of the all season tire changes. A great informative video!!

Good comparison video Roman. Demonstrates one reason why wrecked SUVs are such a common sight during the winter. They think they're invincible with their fancy AWD and all-season tires ...until they need to slow down/turn/stop. Can't beat physics. Need good tires.

Thanks. Very informative. I fishtailed my 2wd G35 on all season V-rated Sumitomos down a very slightly graded 200 ft icy patch coming out of Sugar Bowl at about 30 mph last winter. Was exciting for me and for the minivan I was heading toward for 3 cycles. Finally caught a sticky patch and the traction control straightened me out. Almost sideways in afternoon Sierra conditions where ice wasn't expected. Will have Blizzaks or Hakkelapittas before this season.

As a departure from other FLC reviews, THIS IS A VERY MISLEADING COMPARISON. Anyone with winter driving experience knows that it is the snow tires that make the difference, not the cars. It is certain that if the snow tires were installed on the Rogue and all season tires on the MB, the MB will slide all over the road.

Which blizzak model tires did the mecedes have? I have we ws80's on right now, unfortunately it's only snowed twice so far since I've had them and yeah, they are better than all seasons but so far I'm not happy with them. I had studded firestones on a car 5 years ago and they were awesome. According to tire rack reviews though, blizzaks are far superior. Although the ws80's didn't really have any reviews yet since they are new this year.

I know that winter tires have deeper grooves for grip, but what are dedicated "summer" tires? What happens when you use winter tires for the summer?

Winter tires get quite soft in summer temperatures so they can be a little bit squeaky and they'll wear out quicker.

On my previous Ford, I had Continental ContiViking Contact 5's, and now I got Nokian Hakkapelitta R's on my BMW, and I really cant tell the difference... the Continental's got higher scores in the wet while the Nokian's performed better when it was colder... but I'm not really into tires, so I don't really know much about all this...

the one thing i always hate with these types of videos is that they always use two different vehicles with two different tires/setups. and they usually make the car look like its better than the suv/crossover too. wish that someone would do these tests with the same vehicle and setup but different tires. regardless i liked the video, but i always feel this type of video is biased to begin with. Just my opinion, have a great day.

Agree with the some of the other users that comparing both vehicles on different tire selection is truly unless your intent of the video is to demonstrate how well winter tires can perform. At that point you need 2 identical videos.

I see your point in this video, but in this case I would of borrowed two C300 or two Rogues (one with the blizzaks and one with all season). To many other variable (different weight, awd system, abs system, braking power, aerodynamics, tires, etc).. You usually get a delta of 35-45% on the same car when using comparing snow tyres and all season tires. When going from summer to winter tires your delta is closer to 65-70%. So a C300 with all season would of of stopped 30-35ft further than a c300 with snow tyres (difference of 2.5 cars length) On the Rogue with all season and winter tyres, the difference would of been a tad less than 2.5 cars length because of its lighter weight compared to the benz c300.

Check out the General Artics. I have them. Love them for my RWD. Read the reviews on TireRack for your car make/model. Got a flat on 1 and got a slightly used Blizzack to replace it. Sweet tread on the BB but the Artics are the best value.

I drive a C300 RWD 2015 i live in suburban pennsylvania sometimes i drive through rural areas. PA gets alot of snow especially in the poconos and the car drives amazing, could only imagine 4 matic. Also i did not buy my c300 because of snow or reliability i bought it because to ME it looks good.

It doesn't matter what type of car it is, if its running on all season tires, they're going to loose traction in the cold weather. A good set of snow tires on a FWD, AWD, RWD, or 4X4 vehicle is the best thing you can do for the winter. People need to budge snow tires for their new cars more often if they live in areas that it snows. Hell alot of dealerships will price check you to give you the better deals. Friend of mine mother got snow tires and rims for her 2014/2015 (Not sure what year it is) Ford Fusion and she only had to pay $90 CAD a tire.

I think if the nissan was swaped for a subaru or other suv with proper awd with proper tires [doesn't need to be winter] instead of these stupid slicky makes-you-suv-drive-like-a-car tires (proper chucky) the differece might be a lot smaller also i know its a mashup but the nissan is already down on power... the slickness of the tires becomes apparent when it stops

I wish you used the same car to rule out machanical advantage of the more expensive drive system. Have said that I put steel wheels with name brand ( I think Michelin ) snow only tires on my wife's soul and she never says anything about slipping or worrying about driving in the snow and ice. I never used snow tires till these advanced compound tires came out they work great. All the big tire co make them so the prices have come down. I install hers in nov.-March. One set last a long time .
