Great Review Tom as always...I must admit...Ths current S really looks boss IMO among luxury flagships...This interior makes my friend's 2007 S550 look like something from the 1990s...Amazing how much nicer this interior looks.

Great review Tom, what a (modern) classic. Also interesting how many modern features we now take for granted, even on economy cars, were introduced on the S Class ... seatbelts, airbags, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, etc...

I'll have to get my wife to work harder and longer 'cause i'd love to have this in my garage... kidding aside - i agree this is the benchmark - not the 7-series. Have you considered doing a series on which car you would put in your garage (i.e.: SUV, Luxury SUV, mid-size, compact, Sports Car under $40K etc ... love your take on this)

You're not the only one who thinks that way ! MB should have improved the exterior, but they opted to make only cosmetic changes for the 2015 model.

Mercedes designers said they wanted it that way because it gives it a sleeper, fly under the radar look.

Deliberately done that way. S Class is for people who've made it but don't want or feel the need to broadcast it to everyone likes a Rolls does. Some think ostentation is bad taste and muted refinement is classy. Not every billionaire is showy. Some are exceedingly private and for good reason. Much better to fly under the radar when there are people who want to kidnap you and your family for ransom.

This is a 2014 S550. The 2015 S550 has a touch sensitive Cockpit Management and Data (COMAND®) system

I thought so too. The 2015 has a palm rest that allows for finger control, whereas the 2014 has a padded palm rest with phone control numbers beneath it.

I love this class I have three but in reality the thing most people don't get about the S class it's a safe and delightful car is even a 1966 it's a beautiful reliable and comfortable car and one of the few cars that the whole family enjoys writing in so I ask how much is that worth to you how much ?

This car will probably by 65k in just 3-4 years. Once warranty runs out, repairs will be huge

i have a use 2014 with 90k miles on it. no issues so far knock on wood.. i do have after market warranty

As long as you don't have any kids I'm sure you could afford this car easily as a ophthalmologist and you'll love it. My dad actually bought a new one and it really has one the best interiors money can buy.

Waste of money. Unless you have a driver because the car is best experienced from the back. Get an E or S coupe instead.

Nice Hyundai. Seriously. Not that I care, but this looks like every other car on the road, only bigger. Not that it matters - I won't be buying one soon. My house, my car, and my entire college education together cost less than this car.

Regardless to the badge this car looks ugly. Add to that being overpriced and high cost of maintenance. This thing is one irrelevant piece of gas guzzling environmental disaster.
