Change the air pump inlet filter and hose. If the valve block failed it can be due to dirt getting in there. Eventually the hose gets brittle and breaks off letting dirt in the compressor and valve block.

@Chip6565 Strut replaced by a new Bilstein (Mercedes also manufactured by Bilstein). Also a new MB original valve block. My GL is still hanging to the right. On several forums I have red that new MB valve blocks can have malfunctions. Sometimes it took 3 new different parts to have the good one without malfunction... I am getting error code C155664. The pressure sensor. I think this sensor is located on the valve block... After 6 years I will also replace the compressor this week.

I have replaced compressor, valve block, all 4 airbags and I am still getting a leak somewhere? When I raise the car it causes my compressor over work and then give me error code of compressor cooling down. When I lower the car the front end is much lower than the back and Undrivable .. any idea?
@Chip65653 жыл бұрын
sounds like there is a leak in the system somewhere. most likely in the front if it’s dropping. I’d spray some soapy water around the fittings and airbags and look for bubbles once the system is charged up with air.

Well if the original valve block did the same thing you have to look elsewhere. Not much to the system: four airbags, pipes and a compressor.. see if you can find a leak with soapy water when you have the front dropping.. good luck

Hey Chip, another question; you said your GL is a 2015. Why didn’t you bring it in under warranty?
@Chip65654 жыл бұрын

Chip6565- Did this valve block replacement completely resolve your issue and still holding? Did you say in beginning of video that front and rear were unequal front to rear? What about left and right? I have front pair much higher than rear that are sagging equally low... What diagnostic software did you use to tweak ride height later during airbag replacement?
@Chip65653 жыл бұрын
Since this video I have replaced the valve block a couple of times. It is a mechanical part that is prone to failure in my case.. I have also replaced a leaking airbag in the rear. That caused it to sag in the corner. Neither repair requires software to replace.

I purchased a generic Chinese part on eBay. They’re all made in China so why pay OEM price for exactly the same thing.. search Valve Block Air Suspension Mercedes Benz GL450 550 2123200358. Your part number on the original is likely the same. Just confirm the year and fitment with the seller if you have any doubt. I think this part is widely used for multiple vehicles. At the time they were about $75. Quality is the same as far as I can tell. Looks exactly the same as OEM without the part number. And LOTS less expensive.

How did you calibrate the suspension system after you replaced the part
@Chip65654 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe that is necessary although I do have diagonostic software and do recall recalibrating while trying to troubleshoot a leaking airbag that I replaced several months later.. in either case I don’t believe it is necessary. Their are separate sensors at each wheel that control wheel height and that is a separate system.

Hey Chip, Did your suspension drop or remain the same? We’re you able to raise and lower with the switch in the middle console? Did you run diagnostics with diagnostic tool? My malfunction light came on yet everything still seems to be working fine. I purchased an icarsoft scan tool and it looks like I lost comm with the airmatics. Thanks!
@Chip65654 жыл бұрын
The suspension did not drop when I had the malfunction. I don’t recall trying the switch on the console.i had access to the Star Diagonostic tool but it wasn’t needed.
@Chip65654 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what you mean by stating lost communication with the airmatics. Nor what problem your experiencing. I’m no expert but have been successful fixing it myself a few times now.. twice I have replaced the left rear airbag which leaked. The first was a knockoff brand and didn’t last long. And have replaced the distribution block. No communication issues.
@johnq53074 жыл бұрын
Chip6565 Thanks for the reply. I’m having a similar problem and it seems to have corrected itself. The code i was getting from the scan tool was comm loss between the instrument cluster and esp. we’ll see if it comes back.
@johnq53074 жыл бұрын
Chip6565 the comm loss diagnostic read with the icarsoft tool is between the instrument cluster and esp module. I’m thinking (hoping) its the issue you experienced and because the message didn’t match the expected result, cured the error.

This was not a correct installation. There is a reason for the ferrules that were on each of the air lines. They prevent the line from coming off of the threaded fitting, which can happen under pressure. The ferrules have to be transferred from the old valve block to the new one, or new ferrules need be installed. Either way, this can only be done with the removal of the fitting, not by just pushing in the line, as done in the video. I recommend that you re-do this step in order to prevent a possible mishap. Viewers beware.
@RENIELTUBE3 жыл бұрын
Stop talking about things you are not sure about :-) The ferrules ARE already in the connectors from factory.. And yes, it IS a simple push in and pull back gentle to seat the hoses correctly.. However the video is a little misguiding as you should NOT tighten the brass on the new valveblock at all.
@stanjones84953 жыл бұрын
@@RENIELTUBE about to do this repair and just want to be sure about the lines. Simply push them in and the ferrules keep them in place? I did the compressor and I concur about tightening, it specifically said not to tighten but I messed up the air line, local shop corrected it for me, said you need a special tool.
@RENIELTUBE2 жыл бұрын
@@stanjones8495 You can do it yourself in the following way.. unscrew the compressionfitting,(even though the instructions says not to) pull off the white/black plastic plug (while taking care not to loose the fitting or the ferrule). Cut 5mm of the old hose with a stanley knife (the old ferrule will have mangled the hose a bit) Push fitting approx 10mm onto hose . Push ferrule approx 2mm onto hose (cone towards fitting). Push hose and ferrule into receiving hole until bottoming out (further pushing the ferrule onto the hose until the correct distance is reached) remove hose from hole and lightly pull fitting towards ferrule (without mowing the ferrule). Push hose and fitting in hole until bottoming out, lightly screw in fitting until seated and o ring is tight. lightly pull hose to check if compression ring fitting has bitten..
