Here's a huge tip, go to Harbor Freight and get yourself a suction cup (approximately $4). The one I picked up was orange. Attach the suction cup to the side of the tail light and pull hard towards the back of the vehicle (after you've removed the plastic clips and screws in the trunk lining). The whole fixture should put off with ease. This will save you a lot of effort and reduce the risk of scratching up your vehicle using a screw driver or some other sharp object.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. If you don't want to have the problem , try to remove the housing that hold those black plastic tags in place from the back first. By squeezing them with a pair of pliers. Then just slide out the lense. If they fights you, then just simply cut them off. After removing the lense, unscrew those plastic tags. They are actually screwed there. Replace them with regular screws that has head on them, roughly 1 1/4 long. If the head of the screw is not wide enough to cover the hole that is left behind in place of the housing, just put a washer and when you install the lense back, simply use the screw, driving them from the back and you are done. You can also imitate the same set up with the two nuts you took out first that you used 8mm wrench/socket to remove them two nuts. The two metal stud are also threaded in the plastic lense housing, same size. That is what the factory should have done in the first place.

15 Altima here. Tried my hardest but could not get it off. It seems as iff something is still holding it in place. Or I just have to be stronger. I think I need a suction cup

Its a bad design when you have to remove the fixture just to change a bulb. My previous cars gave you access to the bulbs under the trunklid or headlight bulbs under the hood. You simply pull the wiring harness out from the inside and there's your bulb. now they make it a big job.

Agreed! They probably did it on purpose to make owners who are not handy go to the dealer to pay extra to replace the bulbs. Replacing bulbs on my Sentra and GTR were much easier than the Altima.

I can't seem to get my driver's side fixture off. I have tried the screwdriver, even going as far as separating what little bit from the fixture and the car body, with it still not working. I have used a hammer on those two tabs, nothing moves. I have tried the fingertips from this video, and it still won't budge. I am starting to think the darn thing is glued in there. When I push/pull on the fixture the entire car moves, but the fixture won't come out. I can't keep breaking little pieces of the fixture off. Any suggestions?

Vernon Garcia I had the same problem! I had to use the to yellow plastic pry tool to get the driver side off.

Try a heat gun to loosen the glue. May need a professional if it's glued on.
