2015 Renault Lodgy MPV | First Drive Video Review | Autocar India

Renault has entered the Indian MPV market with the Lodgy. But how capable is this new people mover? Kartikeya Singhee finds out.

Before lockdown, I had hired a Lodgy for my trip that was just over 2000kms in 3 days. The taxi had already run 4Lac KMs before we started off. Having myself driven Innova before, the Lodgy was happily cruising at 100-110kmph, without the feel of an extra last gear, which you feel in Innova (old gen) at those speeds. It was very comfortable even in the last seat. We had 2 adults in the last seat for over 1500kms without much problem. I have this habit of speaking to drivers about maintenance and stuff about thier ride. This lodgy driver said Lodgy gives him around 14-16kmpl even after 4Lac KMS, which itself speaks a lot about the engine and he still gets the usual oil change service at regular intervals, which comes up at around 2-3k per service at a road side garage. He also admitted that spares are on expensive side and mostly available only in showroom,which was a problem for him. Posting my experience with Lodgy as it might help someone looking to buy these from Showroom or even a used one

Good choice for new buyers,Renault is awesome when it comes to engine production bur service is its weak pint in India.

May not work out in India. Duster is quite a expensive car. So probably it will cost even more. At additional cost it comes close to competition like xuv 500 or innova,which r far more attractive deal. If it is priced in range of Ertiga then only something can happen. But Ertiga is from very strong and economical brand like maruti with widdest network of service center so even at low cost it will be tough time. Duster is successful as it introduced new segment. But nothing new in this car.

Abhishek Panchal Look at how much space it is offering, 7-8 people can sit in this car. You can take a TD and see. Worth it for those with big families. Standard variant (around 10 lac on road) is not out of budget if compared to innova ( starts at 12.5).

Renault Lodgy: A good package, but not a Good looking one. Third row although having good space, is just like on the Mobilio; without support and only kids will be comfy. The overall interior design itself seems dated, although genuinely practical, but of course way better than the age-old Innova's. Seems to be a good, long list of equipment on-board too. But disappointing that the second row seats are non-slideable. Now only if they price this MPV at par with the Mobilio, (The Mobilio is over-priced of course) this MPV would be a good seller. It will be great for Fleet operators too, as a cheaper and frugal alternative to the Innova. But seriously the biggest disadvantage are the looks. Looks like a bigger and better Chevy Enjoy.

Why we haven't this in France Country of Renault (they sold a cheapper version badged Dacia but not this real Class MPV ) this could be the link between the renault Espace and the Scenic

Utility wise it seems to be a good MPV and looks really spacious too. Due to seating capacity every MPV looks kinda boxy in the rear but lodgy looks decent altogether as a car. I liked it.

Whats Nissan going to call it? Toyota's reliability and maintenance is unbeatable. The only way to spice things up by Renault is setting an aggressive price point which i don't think they will be able to do.

Btw, I did not like the review much either. Car makers are under no pressure to offer anything exciting to Indian buyers as such. The cars are mediocre compared to the same named cars being sold overseas. We get hand down designs from these hideous brands. Companies cry about cost and cost cutting but leave no chance to squeeze the customers pockets to fill theirs.

When the car is running at a high speed(80km/h) Still I'm able to open the door from inside. Which is biggest fault in the safety of the car. There is no door lock provided to prevent opening the car door at high speed. Is this a design fault ?

pratheesh sebastian Automatic isn't better why ? 1. Lower mileage 2. High on maintenance 3. Peoblem rectification requires a specialist meachanic 4." Auto Clutch" failure is more likely in highly speed variations driving 5. Not fun to drive 6. Not easy to control when situation goes suddenly wrong compared to manual. 7. Less power & Torque compared to it's manual machine AUTOMATIC is good only in CITIES. Out on Highway it looses it's charm
