The biggest plus of lodgy is the ride and handling which was comparable to the duster(which has awesome ride quality)...while thebinnova has a stiff set up.It would be intresting to see that can innova hold the number 1 spot.

I have the first gen innova and made few changes that provide better ride quality even Today! Here are some of those changes I've made which not only increases pickup but also provides good sound insulation at higher speeds - Suspension buffers for good stability - Nitrogen tyres - Diesel Additive - Abro fuel injecter cleaner - Dampening sheets - Ecu remap stage 1 - Performance Air filter Last but not the least quick gear shifting at 1500rpm increases pickup and mileage Now My innova touches 0 - 100 in 14secs around 2400rpm on 5th gear.. I've touched 157km/hr at 4000rpm... Innova is for Lifetime! Other brands are for resale!

Eye opening comparison, i have driven innova quite few times and I hated it's gearbox, lack of 6th gear really makes it sounds like a old school jeep.Will be good to see a competition in its segment, also the new innova is due for launch in the coming year, so can't wait to see what Toyota has to offer(also to mention innova is bit too overpriced for its generation old style and frame)

The Innova lacks a 6th gear I agree. We have a 2008 model Innova whose engine at 100kmph reaches 2800rpm with just 2 people sitting in the car. I think I need to put a K&N air filter lol

I'm not a fans of Toyota products. I prefer Honda,Suzuki or Daihatsu, but this Toyota Innova sells good here in indonesia, and we call it Toyota Kijang Innova. The good thing of having Toyota's products and Innova in particular, is the ease of finding their service center and their spareparts and it effected their resale value. I don't how Toyota and Renault compete each other in India, but in Indonesia i only see Toyota compete Honda and Suzuki... while European brand is like having their own segment.

Good comparative review. I think the costing matters and so does the space on offer when it comes to an MPV. Lodgy looks fairly good and costs tad bit lower than the innova while offering ample space and a much better driving experience.

I took a TD of lodgy, it seems to be a balanced MUV and it feels good to see something different than innova or ertiga. Guys take a TD before zeroing in on the same old stuff like innova or even mobilio since it is not Honda's best attempt for Indian MUV market.

dinesh suri I have a friend who bought 1 year ago a Lodgy and he is very happy with it, and we compared the Air Conditioner (i have Renault Megane) and it is about the same (not the design, under the design). My Megane is 7 years old and i never had problems with AC.

Innova has a bigger engine , 2.5 l, that kills a lot of space in cabin . But comfort in Innova was unmatched till now , even though Mobilo, Ertiga & Xylo , they were all below par . To be very honest , 3 people can't seat in the 3rd row of any MPV . And I never liked this stupid concept of calling as 8 seater which has no practicality . Lodgy looks a car to challenge Innova . As both are spacious and car like . XYLO is good feature wise , but it's high sitting position ie high centre of gravity makes it unstable . Surprised Mahindra failed to do it a car like vehicle . Mobilo and Ertiga is not comfortable and looks too economical than comfort .

Vijay Vignesh You are right friend, renault cars have no maintenance problem. I own a duster myself and I test drove lodgy a few days ago. It seems to be a winner all in all. Toyota has dominated the MPV market for long and ertiga also created some buzz but I think power wise, space wise and presence wise, lodgy could establish a good customer base.

I had just cover the very long driver from Delhi-Rishikesh-Baderinath- till the Last India Village " Mana" on Indo China Boader.. between 17th to 22th June2015. with Duster. ..not an issue , No body Roll , power is good with A/C on, shifting gear is not smooth as Innova or any Toyota Car , but many time I have seen that Toyota Innova is over-taking me on Hills during uphill climb.. and within few Second maintain a huge Gap between us.. Innova has more power than Duster on Paper as well as on ground.. I have seen few Lodgy on Road & did test driver .. but let me tell you that its better than Maruti Ertiga.. I own Ertiga for three month its good City car for 6+1 , but for people for Outstation and long driver.. Driver comfort is their but just because of " FRONT WHEEL DRIVER" its drifting on hills road sply when road is wet & u need to Climb the hill from 1st gear .. I covered a Long Trip from Delhi to Dushausie in last year June , i faced a problem within the Dalhousie Main " Subhas Chowk" Now that car is with one of my friends & he faced issue in gear box after 40,000km. which i have seen in many ertiga.. Maruti Gives Gurantee upto 40,000km .. may be they know this issue.. But its true that " Lodgy" will definitely gives batter option Than Hondaz 6+1 & Ertiga6+1.. Lets wait share if u found any new info in this regards with Regards

Mandeep Baweja Dont even think of Mobilio its to films, cheap and built to cost, just go to a Honda showroom and see yourself, how the seats are screwed togethe how thin they are, and every thing is so small to accomodate. I took the TD of the Lodgy and believe me its awesome, take TD of Lodgy and Mobilio and decide yourself. Innova makes no sence its too over priced, and not fast enough and still returns worst in terms of mileage and haling compare to Lodgy. And Lodgy 1.5 is also well proven Engine and as reliable as Innova.

Unless you Tokyo-drift with your mommy's MPV, it's a perfectly valid to want Xylo in an MPV comparison. It's because of mentality like yours that we've not been able to support local brands. "phoren eej a bettur" has been hardcoded onto your brains, and your titanic inferiority complex drives you to the nearest foreign car dealership. Each Toyota/Renault purchase causes the Indian economy to bleed money. We have nothing to give Japan or France in exchange for an MPV, so we give precious rare-earth metals that would be invaluable if we ever become an advanced economy. Not with moronic consumerism.

What nonsense, the engine life of Innova is phenomenal as compared to the 1.5dCi. (That's thanks to the compression ratio) ~2kmpl makes NO difference when you've to buy a new car when the 1.5dCi unit starts feeling old & loud. Wait for the next Innova VGT. : 120bhp 14kmpl 3 Proper rows Stronger A pillar Airbags & ABS standard Better engine sound insulation. Thicker sheet metal (for whatever it counts) and better door insulation. Updated Dashboard & instrument cluster. Lodgy would not be much better than Ertiga IMHO.
