That should sound nice. It will be pretty mellow I would guess. My good friend has a Dakota RT I might slap a couple mufflers on to try out to get the sound he wants.

Oh how is the cabin drone at highway cruise? Any that you notice?

How do you think this muffler would sound with one of their y-pipes ran out to dual 3.5 x 12" tips? Really trying to decide between a setup like you have with a corsa dual tip or the setup I mentioned above. Any reply is greatly appreciated!!!

It will sound pretty good either way. With this tips you describe I would think it would open the tone more and sound even better.

Did you notice any more drone with the TR compared to the R?

Jon Hurley I actually felt the TR resonated more in the cab, but was quieter out the tip. It's because the TR has more tone than the R but is quieter. That tone is what resonates though.

I have a 2008 Silverado 4.8 with headers and no cats do you think if I install the tr muffler it will be to loud

Define "too loud" they changed the internal design of the TR and it may be a little louder than the one I had.

Do you still have all 3 of the cats or did the cat- back remove the 3rd one with no sensors? I ask because I installed this muffler on my truck with all 3 cats and no resinator but it sounds like the exhaust air is just beating a piece of paper at all times and it's a much higher tone

You know what I just figured it out. I left the v4 flap on mine cause I was worried about drone and I just pinned it open and now it sounds like it should

All three cats are in place for this video and no resonator. It sounds like something is wrong with your muffler or something.

Hey what's going on man? I have a 2016 Silverado and did the carven TR to cores style tips. I've noticed kinda a whistle type noise when I really get on it around 4300 RPM or so. Did you hear it too? I'm not sure if it's my exhaust or something else.

Jared Walters I can't say that I really heard any whistle sound myself or at least nothing that bothered me. I have OCD too, so it doesn't take much. lol

Matt Earle lol I hear ya man. Yeah it's a different sound for sure. Only goes it when I have it opened up, and only when it gets to about 4300 RPM. It does not do it when I am crushing at 85 or 90 though, only when I get on it hard. So I'll have it looked at

What did you use for a pipe since you got rid of the resonator?

I would go with the Carven. I like the sounds on the straight through mufflers on the newer vehicles better than a Flowmaster.

Yes. I have a friend that has a 2001 4.8 and he kept the stock manifolds and cats, put in a straight pipe then split it out the back and it sounded really good and not too loud.

I will be trying a black widow muffler soon and will let you know how it does. It sounds like it will be similar to the Flowmaster somewhat, but it is a straight through open chamber design for the most part.

is this 3" inner diameter piping or outer? I ask because to me 3" ID looks huge, and I'd think the truck would really have to be moving some serious air for a pipe that big, true or not true?

It's 3" OD and you are not going to lose power on these motors with a single 3" exhaust. I ran with open headers and could tell it gained a little more power across the entire RPM range.

Which one you like better? TR or R Series

TR If you are wanting to keep a deep tone and may go with headers, get the TR. If you want loud with the stock Y-pipe and cats, just do a straight pipe. You will be surprised how tame these new trucks are even with a straight pipe. I couldn't tell much difference at all between the straight pipe and Carven R with the stock Y-pipe.

How long is the TR casing? then overall?

I Have the same truck with same engine I put the tr but why doesn’t it sound like this ? I feel like my truck sounds quieter ?

@@5.3david17 only thing I can think of is that the stock GM exhaust tubing on the 5.3L is 2.75" in diameter and I'm running all new 3" diameter tubing from the cat back to the 3.5" tip.

Not counting price which muffler sounds better to you? the Carven TR or the Oval Borla XR1? What diameter/length is your tip?

I liked the TR a lot. Had a 4"/12" tip I believe.

@@etmu1322 the Borla was a tad louder and deeper but the TR was just a different rasp and different tone. I can't explain it. The Borla was louder at all times but the TR was a little quieter in lower RPM's bit was loud at WOT. They changed the TR design now though so I think it sounds different than it used to. Mine was just a perforated core but the new one is a louvered core.

@@mattofearle If you ever decide to try new mufflers in the future, you should revisit TR maybe. Also, what was the deepest mufflers you tried?

@@etmu1322 I felt the ATAK was deepest at times but the round XR-1 was pretty deep if I remember correctly. I'll be needing new mufflers after winter and I'm thinking ATAK, TR or BBE but it will be true 3" duals with x-pipe so it won't be good in comparison to my Silverado.

Been watching alot of your videos I'm looking for a muffler to buy to do true duals with cats and possibly add longtubes in the future...im looking for a muffler that has a nice deep tame idle and light acceleration, but has that crackling sound during a hard acceleration shift..the carven tr seems to sound pretty good with and without headers what do you recommend

I like the TR for what you're after. I just helped put my TR on RAM over the weekend and the owner said he loved it in every way you described. Deep and tame at idle but good crackle and tone under accelerate. True duals have more mid and top high tones and not as deep as a single in my experience.
