Super helpful video with good breakdown and detail.

I read somewhere, where you pull the fuse for the HVAC. And let it sit for a couple minutes with the fuse unplugged, and reinstall the fuse power up the car and turn the controller from hot to cold to reset the blend door. Doesn’t always work but worth a shot.

Yes some systems kind of lose their memory for where these door actuators are supposed to be in their travel. Resetting them can sometimes work. This one was deceased, though!

First thing I would do is connect manifold gauges to the system and observe the pressures while the a/c is running. THis would tell us if the system is operating properly and has the ability to make cold air. From there we could determine if there's some kind of air distribution problem.

I just did one at my shop on 2015 silverado driver blowing hot and blend actuator is to left behind glove boxes have to remove two modules and a bracket and reach in to left like behind radio. Job took 45 mins to 1hr. And customer was shocked because he was quoted for dash removal with ticket of almost 1,100 dollars and I done it for 80.00 labor and he bought part.

2018 Chevy Tahoe. We have been dealing with similar issue for over a year, 6k total at dealerships, had evap core and all doors replaced. Ac blows too cold, both front sides dual climate controls, little to no heat unless maxed out. Gets so cold evap core freezes up and air cant flow, turm of ac and after a few minutes air flows like it should. And toxic smell as well from vents, rear ac good still. It all started with the cabin air filter being changed. Any advice, im not sure it the ac heat actuators were changed or if it was just all the blend doors actuators.

You don’t need to pull the whole dash apart. That’s doing too much. Removing the glove box, two modules behind the glove box, and one more module to the right of the actuator and you can get to the module.

I just> reset my actuators < using other KZbin videos and it fixed my 2004 Silverado without having to remove anything. The right side was cold and the left was hot before . It took 10 minutes. Try it first I now own a spare actuator I might never need. This is a common error caused by the computer. Search KZbin save a large bill for nothing !
@chriscrockett63053 жыл бұрын
What does something like that cost
@bcautomotive79333 жыл бұрын
Depends on how accessible the actuator is, but I think this one was billed for about 3 or 4 hours plus the part. Most of these actuators are under $100.

This video shows what is wrong with mechanics today. This job takes an idiot an hour to do with minimal tools and a few scratches on your hand. What a waste of money for this poor customer. Probably charged them 1200 for a 200 job. Pathetic.

@@bcautomotive7933 I have a suburban 2016 front ac blows warm and back blows cold there's no leaks an refrigerant is full, what actuator would that be? I sometimes hear a clicking/cracking noise coming from the dashboard.
@darinruddock33942 жыл бұрын
@@bcautomotive7933 That WAS an ignorant comment. However, he is right about reaching it from behind the glove box without having to remove the whole dash, as all “the books” will recommend. The blend door actuator in these 2014-2019 Tahoe’s and Suburban’s can be replaced in about 1.5 hours, even less if your hands and arms aren’t as big as mine. That previous comment was made by someone who hates everyone, including himself. So he assumed, wrongfully, that you were doing the extra work to create revenue. But, obviously, who would ever take on the liability of removing and tampering with all those high dollar modules and dash panels if they thought it could be done easier. You did what “the books” say to do. Nothing wrong with that. Just know for the future, in this case, “the books” have a poor recommendation for this replacement. Good luck to you! Don’t let those jerks get you down…
