Magali and Luigi, absolutely perfect. The entire band, of course. Chamorro is a sorcerer, and Magali is wonderful.

Magali has one of the most absolute distinctive voices I’ve heard on anyone. Her phraseology plus her accent honestly puts her in there with some of the greatest female singers! When she sings “Night And Day” and “Moody’s Mood” that is a big wow. Her sultry jazzy control of the notes is superb. I hope she literally becomes and is recognized as one of the great ones. God bless her!

Just watched this again - I miss Magali, hope she's doing well. Give Esteve a speeding ticket, he was driving at full speed no brakes...es bueno si, Esteve. Everyone terrific of course - and Luigi remarkable, not missing a note and smoothly carrying the tune at blazing speed - Josef , Ignasi too, thanks Joan, for all these great vids and music.

Many of us felt empty when we heard of the death of Amy Winehouse, the waste of such high talent. The Jazz School run by Joan Chamorro makes up for that sense of loss. Magali Datzira is unique as Garry Berman said, but there are a number of unique singing and instrumental talents fostered by Joan Chamorro - Alba Arbengou, Elia Bastida, Andrea Motis, Rita Payes etc. A nest of singing birds! And these young woman, with their impeccable timing and phrasing, all play instruments as well. Thank you Joan Chamorro and all the music teachers in your school in Barcelona.

Funny that you should say that. This is the second video that I have watched her singing: I was thinking on both occasions how the lilt in the voice sounds so Billie Holiday. In fact, there are moments where if you were only listening and not watching, you would think that it was her.

i would never compare her to billlie, but she does cover billie's songs pretty much to the note, and is obviously very influenced by her, but she hs her own voice. her style is for sure modelled on african american vocal style as do all the singers from Chamarro's school. i would like to see more originality and imporov in the singing since they all play some kind of horn....but still very nice.

she is less sad even if similar, thanks God less unlucky, so we hear a voice that is almost like great Billie's voice but happy; also Madeleine Peyroux somehow sounds partially like Billie, but not in the same way they both are good singers, Magali is very young and she can improve her incredible art thanks to her talent

Fantastic! I don't know any jazz singers today with a more original sound and soulful feel for the music than the ladies of Joan Chamorro's band. First i heard Motis and was stunned, Rita Payés dazzled me next, and Eva is right up there with them but Magali seems to be emerging as my favorite. Such a sexy sound and yet with a fresh young innocence that breathes new life into these time honored songs. So glad you are perpetuating the legacy of this great music. I consider Joan Chamorro and his youngsters right up there with Joey Alexander as the new avante garde of Jazz. You all give me hope for the future!

This tempo would be a challenge to most any musician and all the pro's came thru with flying colors. But I have to say Magali has Great, not just good but Great, feeling for tempo. I say this after hearing her play bass on Cherokee and sing this tune. Magali, keep playing and working with great musicians, that's what Stan Getz says you have to do by the way, and just "Never give up". I know you won't but had to put in my two cents there.

There's a kind of thrilling magic to this. Everything is frenetic like an overwound clockwork, all the parts in perfect synchrony at dizzying speed, yet Magali, unhurried, leaning back on the beat, seems to be singing in slow motion... The little "oohs" in a space of their own. Yet, yet they are always together when needed. Pull off the SAJB sign over the door of the Jazz House and underneath it says Hogwarts Music Academy. Thanks to Magali la Maga. Professor Joan Dumbledore and Luigi Veinte Dedos.

@@raydewey2001 Yes. I think the jazz-centred experience is still perfect, because it teaches all the great disciplines, especially performer creativity in the moment. Andrea and Alba A may have the most disciplined singing voices, but for me Magali and Rita have the better vocal instruments and the greater creative spirits trying such a wide variety of music. Magali. Goliards; Des de la Cuina. Rita. Guillem Roma; Oques Grasses. I also find many examples of them working together. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noWomKOPrJ14jtE

@@raydewey2001 Totally agree back. Elia Bastida I rate as the greatest instrumentalist SAJB has produced to date among many fine instrumentalists.
