Hey. I put the TRD Pro Grille on my Tacoma and put the Sensor Garnish in front of the Sensor but the Radar for the Cruise Control and Auto Braking is not working.

How does the garnish work? I have a 2016 tacoma that came with all the trd accessories and I also have a 2019 and I wanna swap all the stuff from my 16 to my 19. My 16 has a oem grille but not the garnish for the tss and I ordered an ebay one because the oem is way over priced. But I don't want issue with the tss

If I understand your question...The 2016 did not have a sensor or garnish so I doubt that you can swap that grill onto a 2019!

I have the same sensor error? I haven’t installed the garnish yet , will that fix it? I did add the two washer up top but still have the error

The garnish may do it, but it’s just there to protect the sensor. You may have to play with the adjustment shims. Mine is working fine now, but I had to add washers behind the mounting bolts as well. I also trimmed some plastic mounding that was partially blocking the hole in the grille.

Your radar was factory calibrated for the original OEM grill. You just eliminated the radar safety feature. Looks cool! Look up “Cosine Error” in google and you’ll see the mathematical proof.

I don't think cosine error is the issue with these sensors, the reason I say this is because these radar sensors are only used in a forward direction directly in front of the vehicle, the sensor does not know the size or height of a vehicle in front of you, you might be behind a sports car with a total roof height of only 40 inches (think Mazda Miata top down) to 54 inches from the ground, another vehicle may be 72 inches total height above the ground the only thing the radar sensor is doing is sending out its signal and it bounces back to the sensor. Everything is in a straight line of site. As long as the sensor has been mounted flat and not angled right or left or up or down the short distance these sensors work at I just don't see cosine error being an issue. Another reason I don't buy the cosine error issue is because these trucks depending on the model you have are different heights, moving the radar sensor higher or lower depending on the suspension options on the truck. The same style grille can be two or three inches different for the height of the radar sensor depending on the suspension options. I think what is an issue is the material the garnish cover is made of, the density of the type of plastic that is used. Toyota should be ashamed of themselves charging as much as $450 dollars for a small plastic cover that costs them likely no more than a $3 to $5 dollars to manufacture. The reason I think it is the covers that are the issue is because people get the message the cover is dirty when it is not, that may be an issue with the density of the material used to make the cover.

I just installed mine and I keep getting an error message for the sensor (it says I need to clean the sensor but it is not dirty). Is anyone else having this issue? And, if so, how was it fixed? Thank you

Make sure the sensor is flushed straight and you have the right tss cover for the sensor. Not a plastic cover which will block the sensor.

Did you put a replica or OEM grill? Did you use the OEM garnish as well?

It's been about a month now, and Due to the TSS, I cant use Cruise Control. I really dont miss the "Auto Slam The brakes" It does, but I really want my cruise back.

@@mk8530 you may need to slant the top of your sensor toward the engine by adding 2 or 3 small washers between the sensor and where it attaches to the grill on the one stud at the top. Trial and error for the number of washers, mine took 3 washers and it works fine!
