I have the same grille and I'm planning on transferring it from my old Tacoma to the new one. I'm missing the front garnish piece for the sensor so I'm going to have to get creative and built something to cover that front area. I have a piece of plexiglass that might do the trick... hopefully. I see one on AMZ for 24 bucks but I'm cheap lol. Thanks for the video! ~Mike from the southtowns!

Thanks for this video! It really helped me with my grille swap on my 2018 Tacoma. Although I must say fellow Canadians or anyone living in an area where they salt the roads in winter! Get a Dremel you’ll definitely be cutting out pieces of the old grill to get those ceased and stripped screws out lol

Great video appreciate you posting this. Do you need to disconnect the (-) battery before starting to prevent issues with the sensor? Ive read some folks having issues with their sensor after install.

I dont even have a Yota but was an interesting watch anyway. I think it's a huge improvement but I'm not a fan of chrome. I went thru a lot of effort with plast--dip and vinyl wrap eliminating the chrome on my 17 F150.

@@GarageGear Really well actually. I clean the truck a lot. Using spray wax makes it the dip look great and keeps it a nice black. I also found that using the P.D. Smoke over chrome gives a nice dark charcoal color. Warming the can in hot h2o before and during spraying makes the dip lay flat and even.

A buddy of mine did that same grille swap the day after he bought his Tacoma (brand new). Not sure why Toyota sells trucks with fake chrome on the grille, but nowhere else on the truck. The TRD grille looks way better.

Those screws in the back on the grill are frozen and cannot come loose. I stripped them, what should I do?

You could go and take one to a hardware store, match them up and buy a bunch of new ones or dremel a line in each screw and use a screwdriver to get them out that way!

you realize there’s threaded inserts from the stock grill that slide off for the sensor mounting and slide into the groves on the new grill so the factory bolts work
