There are two plastic fasteners on the front that must be removed with the 10 bolts. They can be removed just by prying with a small screwdriver. Otherwise, this is a good video. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for a great video, really helped me. Although I feel after doing the change I realized the Tesla hepa design is not ideal and if I did it again I wouldn’t go as heavily with all of the glue. The connection between the filter housing and the air intake duct into the cabin is not exactly bulletproof, just kind of sits together with a very light foam seal around the duct. I bet there’s a lot of leakage there. When I changed my filter this was the third filter in my car (had already done a change 3 years ago with Tesla and decided I wasn’t going to pay 300+ again) Interestingly they had glued the replacement filter just partially on each side.

Yeah that elbow has always bothered me as well, we filter out 99.99% thru the filter but air takes the path of least resistance

Is there a cabin filter (smaller) for this car or just this large one? The Tesla Motors Club is a wonderful place! Ok, I think I've got the answers to my questions. First, in 2016, there were 'early' and 'late' cars. The early 2016 (pre April?) are referred to as "pre-facelift" and those after april are the 'facelift' cars. If you have a pre facelift, you have a larger frunk but no 'large hepa filter' sitting behind the frunk tub. Also, the cabin filter is located under the front panel on the passenger side of the car - very easy to change. On the 'facelift' models, the Frunk is smaller (to accommodate the hepa filter body).

Agree, TMC is great! Sorry we didn't get you answered in time, that is all correct.

Would silicone sealant be better? just thinking about the next change in 3 years being easier.

To soften the factory glue use heat gun. It melts the glue!

Seems like you are missing a whole intake and drip molding tray? It’s a tray that sits on top of the vent that goes into the car

Wow, you are correct! You have the two hoses on both sides for the drains.

You could use a double stick foam tape.
