yz450 can race around that stage for a year non stop..while all the others we need rebuilds..valve check...last bike standing is yz450...and that is what a rider really needs 100miles away from home...reliability is worth 5 times the price of the bike

Funny, I have the Suzuki is awesome, I haven't ridden the other bikes, I got a deal on it that's why I bought it. The bike is so easy to ride and handles well, it feels light and small. The forks are fine, again compared to what? I may send out the forks to get re valved because I sure they will be better and I am adding a pipe. If this is the worst bike, Wow!

Thanks for a great review. It would be interesting to do a comparison of the different lap times for 5 laps of a track for riders of different skill levels on each bike. Then it would be interesting to see what level rider (pro, amateur, vet etc) had the best lap time on which bike. I'd be very interested to see how the KTM 350 SFX lap times compared to the 450s!

Steve, I think you can buy something from KTM that adds a kickstart while maintaining the electric start, but it (obviously) costs extra. Some redundancy would have been nice, like you said just in case, but I think it was out to keep weight down with electric start. Electric start and kickstart weighs more than just the electric, and they wanted to make it as light as their design allowed.

+Zedro nurinburg The reason the 4-strokes are approaching the weight of 2-strokes is they only put about $10 a year into updating the 2-strokes. The only new 2-stroke engine from KTM since 2004 is the 2016 125/150SX and they dropped like 7 pounds from the engine. 2-stroke tech in dirt bikes has mostly been frozen since the mid 90s, so it's no wonder 4-strokes are getting close. So not very impressive that a brand new 450 weighs nearly the same as a 12 year old 2-stroke.

TheOfficialKC totally agree, and the 4ts are probably sacrificing alot of durability in that pursuit. But even if they are the same weight, the 2t will always feel lighter. Perfect singletrack machines.

I'm thinking of buying a husqvarna fc however I'm put off a little by the air fork being considered high maintenance and very difficult to get dialled in could anyone with a bike with air forks or better yet a new husky share their experiences with air forks and how often they require maintained thanks

Imo Ktm is an Ez 1st all day with electric start and hydraulic clutch and sick plastics you can't go wrong

Gotta give it to KTM to see how far they have come with there motocross bikes. Need to see Suzuki do some updates i have a 2012 rmz250 and besides this 2016 model it seems that it hasn't changed in 10 years. Kinda disappointing to see that when they have had so many years to step it up... Good to see Yamaha and KTM at the top. It will be interesting to the sale numbers for the two bikes.

I have the 16 Yamaha 450 all I did is change the front tire and bring the forks up a little and it corners awesome and the motor just pulls and can be ridin a gear up with no problem.

The reason the air vs coil spring forks debate isn't as heated as 2-stroke vs 4-stroke is because people have realized that air forks suck compared to coil. Not much to debate.

+jonathan oxlade the trail bikes are tuned different tho, people tend to prefer the Husky tuned suspension on the trail, the power delivery might be different too, not sure. No idea if they do that for the mx models tho.

They are to hard on the rmz ... I think its a good looking bike . This comparison is only for pros who ride the bikes to there max and honestly can you really tell the difference with 2 or 3 extra horses ... I doubt it .. Maybe I don't know anything but I know I love the rmz 450 . I just bought one .

Not yet. 2016 still runs the 4CS fork. Next year they're using the WP AER48 fork or something. Thought it wasn't a pure air fork either, could be wrong though.
