For an old road-warrior like me, it's instructive to see the endless procedures needed to revive a damaged modern car. The basics are the same as ever - radiator, hoses, pumps, etc - but the keyboard work is an eye-opener to someone who never got beyond feeler gauges and ammeters.

I am so pleased that the A1 is finally running and driving. Six months isn't anything to be ashamed of Gents, you have been doing quick flips and a Jolly, well deserved BTW. I remember there were a few small dents on the car so why not make it look good, it has low miles too. Hope you have a great weekend Rob and Chris and thanks for the Video.

Morning all, what great progress, I’ve had a project A4 off the road for 7 months now and engine changed this week and perfect, I know how you feel and reassures me there are others in the same situation and it comes good in the end. So enjoyed your vid today as I did what’s called the Highland cross yesterday(see google) and am just a tad tired, looked forward to sitting on couch today every step of yesterday! 👍👍👍🚗🚗🚗

This one has been a bundle of work for you guys, and no mistake. The list of sundry odd bits to find and replace has led you on a fair old dance. Six months of careful gathering is finally getting you moving forward, still, it was great to see it finally takes its first steps after its 'slight upset'. A shame about the bent leg, but I guess these last minute snags are to be expected when cars have been walloped. At least you can have a relaxing weekend now, hopefully cooling off after the heat of today.

The steering one and a few others are because the battery was disconnected. The steering one probably isn't an issue 0 when you run the car, make sure you get the steering from lock to lock, that re-sets the sensor. I replaced the seats in my Seat Leon, I got a load of codes that wouldn't clear. Within 1/4 driving and getting the steering lock to lock they were all gone. Awesome work as always!

Dealer spares are always priced to the car. The VW part would be cheaper and the Skoda part cheaper still. Back in the 70's I wanted a floor mounted washer switch for a Mk III Cortina. It was out of stock at about 4 quid. The same switch for an Escort was 3, and the Granada was over 5. I bought one for a Transit @ 2 pound 50 ish and removed the extra bracket that was riveted to it. Nice to have a helpful spares specialist.
