Cloned vehicles aren't really an issue here in Australia because unlike the UK, the actual physical plates are provided by state licencing authority and (other than Victoria) there is generally only 1 set of plates ever produced with a particular registration number. Even if you damage your plates, then the vehicle gets a completely new registration number when you apply for a replacement.

Never had a problem with copart and have been buying cars now for the last 3-4 years probably bought about 14-15 and made a very good profit on each of them usually after using them for months while selling them. I think it’s all about knowing what to look at when it comes to copart and sometimes you get unlucky.

I had a 69 911 that had a 'State of California Reassigned VIN' it had been stolen and all the VINs cut out so they riveted plates with the new VIN on it- could be a nightmare with a newer vehicle when you go for service they want the VIN
