2016 Acura MDX - Long-Term Conclusion

I like my MDX, vintage 2002 with 270,000 miles. It still runs smooth with a good 24-25 mpg on the highway. It's age is showing in the amenities where vents and latches are breaking.

Yeah, I was telling my dad you could’ve had 470,000 km if you kept your 04 MDX! He bought a 16 new. The lane keep and radar cruise are game changing. 7 seats now come in handy with 3rd grand kid on the way.

When I was in driver's ed the other guy taking his final test did this. The instructor took the wheel and threw us back to the correct lane. Had him pull over and failed him.

The idiot behind me did exactly this during my driver's test! Then they proceeded to match my speed and drive alongside my vehicle. The examiner wanted me to switch into the right lane, which this twat was hogging to make a right turn. I either had to go above the speed limit to pass or way below to let them pass. Either way I was going to fail so I told the examiner that it was unsafe to do so within such a distance. Needless to say I ended up failing and arguing with the examiner. He told me it was my luck

First it bugs me the driver made an illegal lane change during a turn in the intersection at 1:18. Second- looking at some used MDXs but the reviews I’m seeing are just mediocre.

To each its own, Id take a ZDX over this 3rd gen MDX any day of the week.. New MDX and specially all new Acura line up looks like Posh-Kia´s/Hyundai´s they don´t stand out at all and the dual screen setup and 9 speed auto is beyond moronic, Hated by almost everyone I know in the Acura forums.. LOL and Again Id take the 4th Gen TL over any TLX today... Somebody needs to research tuned 4G TLs, The early beak grille is liked the most among tuners over the bland and uninspiring power plenum grille refresh..

This MDX with 9 speed transmission is a disaster, it jerks like there is no tomorrow, also the infotainment is poorly made, the Bluetooth doesn't work all the time and the layout is also poorly thought out. Stay away from this vehicle and the other Acura vehicles with 9 speed. I have the 2017 model and I regret buying it.

Yep. Glad we dumped it after 2 years and 38k. It wasn't great from the get go. I even talked about the dangerous nature of that ZF 9 speed.

So 2017 has the same thing?? I have 2016 and this trans drives me crazy!!! I went to the dealership and they say they can’t see anything wrong with it!!! Then I’ve received a transmission recall notice, I went over there and they said that my car is not involved it that!!! Will give them a one more chance next month... I took a test drive with 2018 and it was working fine

Well its not like BMW or Audi have changed designs like Acura did.. X5 looks pretty much the same as 15 years ago and the Q7 design dates almost 12 years... "If it ain´t broke" if you like dated designs I guess?? Acura has changed the MDX design radically 2* times now. 2001 < 2007* < 2014* if you look at them they have almost nothing in common between each other.

I got a Volvo XC60 and got no problems with it. I used to have a Acura RL and that has no problems either. If you look at consumer reports who have tested thousands of cars for their reliability and build quality, Acura and volvo are equally reliable in America.

We bought a '14 Tech AWD with 40K miles for $30K at CarMax. Dealers wanted more for the same vehicle. Could pay less but those were independent used car dealers that I had reservations about.
