I like how maintenance cost is presented in the end. Keep it up!

U dont buy a Bimmer for its resale value. If you are, then stick with the local brands and Japanese.

You buy used Bimmers to take advantage of their resale value. Haha

Slight corrections, 120i is only available in lci, not prelci though the tune is about the same as 118i prelci. Also, N13 requires 4.25L of eo not 4L (may seems minor but oil maintenance is key). Problem with this car is once u own it u dont know what to upgrade to apart from awd hatch like m135i, golf R or audi rs3 but they are in a lot higher price bracket already. So technically 80k for a rwd hatch is a steal actually. Already almost 3 years owning it and it makes me smile in every drive 😁

A bit of add on on the installment part. Aside of RM 1k installment, plus an additional budget a monthly RM 300-500 for the maintenance fund of a car ( new or used). Example if it snowball for 3 months, you get RM 900 to 1.5k of funds for any hiccups, if not some upgrades like rims and son. Imagine it for 6 months or a year how much is it. With this fund, you won't get those Kilowatt shock of thousands of ringgit of repair cost in case it happens. Even can cover your annual insurance. All my cars are used or pre-reg. Just my 2 cents. Happy motoring.

i think its all about how you take care of your car although simpler engineering does play a role such as NA engine vs twin turbo+ hybrid combo . I trashed my previous Mark X with lots of aggressive stop go traffic (imagine daily drive from JB to Tuas for work) and constant high speed back to KL on weekend. Lots of issues such as valve cover gasket, steering rack, brakes and ECU change. That was 12 years ago. Now i owned a BMW X3 and so far so good. Gentle drive, minimal stop go traffic and service before time. So, if you can find a low mileage and knows the previous owner driving habit and with proper service record then its a bargain. Else, get a Japanese car.
@KonWaiLuenАй бұрын
Yes, driving habits and maintenance are key to a car's longevity. Actually highway miles are pretty easy on the car, what really piles on the wear and tear is stop-go traffic, especially if it is everyday on peak hours. Situations like that, EV starting look very appealing. Haha.
@LimWeeChoonАй бұрын
@@KonWaiLuen :Correct. Especially with a lot of sudden braking & sudden acceleration. 1km of such situation is equivalent to 100km of highway driving with constant speed at 100kmh. Lots of wear on suspension, brakes, GB and engine. EV excels in stop go traffic but not efficient for highway driving especially on higher speed. Maybe PHEV or Hybrid is the best of both world. In fact, i saw some auto report stating that Hybrid is even more reliable than petrol engine, most likely if it is true that the major load where handled by electric motor. :)

IMHO, not everything boils down to price. Borrowed a pre-LCI F20 118i sometime back with 3 other passengers in tow. Really enjoyed the driver-oriented elements (driver-angled center stack, sitting posture and position, driving dynamics, actual handbrake and steering feedback) but cannot ignore like most entry level model range, there are plenty of cheapo plasticky bits, and in my case even my
