Hey everybody! I'm Mike, the owner of this 300C. I love the car and I'm super thankful to meet up with Zack, he's awesome. If you have any questions or comments about the car (like the bald tires lol), feel free to let me know!

@@silverwolfmonasteryYeah, like Zack said, he contacted me a couple days before shooting. I had an appointment to have new Michelin CrossClimates installed two days after this, so I'd been thrashing these Falkens for a while before he emailed me.

@@silverwolfmonasteryLike Zack said in the video, we did this sort of last minute. I had scheduled to get the Falkens replaced with Michelin CrossClimates, so I'd been thrashing these for a few days before he emailed me, and there was barely any tread left by then. Two days after filming, I got the Michelins on there, the car rides even better than ever now.

What an amazingly beautiful car! I am so glad you showed a close up of the tail lights. As an engineering intern, i got to have small input on the "racetrack" around the brakes, and that was the first thing i worked on that made it into production!

I love the 300 and its Challenger/Charger/Magnum cousins. My mom has a 2011 300 Limited 3.6 Pentastar. It's been a great, reliable vehicle. Sadly, the death of this vehicle represents the official death of the traditional American car. Once upon a time, the only cars you could buy were RWD, body on frame V8 powered American sedans. Now, with the death of the 300 (I know I know it's unibody), there are no longer any cars made in the typical American car tradition. Very sad.
@silverwolfmonastery10 ай бұрын
A friend of mine's mom worked for Chrysler for over 30 in quality control. The reason they got rid of their sedans because they had made them so long the presses for the panels and some other production manufacturing components had worn out. I'm a Toyota guy, but I have loved the looks and performance of MOPAR for about 40 years. This sedan is under appreciated because it was a Chrysler. I just don't trust their reliability. Regardless of my emotional bias, this sedan and its siblings have been acceptable or slightly better in reliability per Consumer Report. I think it is very handsome. It's look honors 1970s American sedans. It is a generation of cars worthy of love.

1:24 2024 is supposed to be the last year for not just the 5.7 Hemi, but the 6.4 in some applications as well. Both engines have been replaced by two 3.0 turbocharged i6 engines that produce more hp and torque than the V8s they replaced.
@damilolaakanni10 ай бұрын
1:58 I believe you couldn't get AWD with the V8 after 2014 like the Charger, so from 2015 AWD was only available with the V6. However, with the Charger, law enforcement could get the V8 with AWD because those vehicles didn't switch to the ZF 8 speed transmission, they still had the 5 speed automatic transmission from the older civilian models.
@mikezobl960210 ай бұрын
That's correct. For 2015-2024 LX platform cars, you couldn't get a V8 with AWD. The exception being the Charger Pursuit until 2020 with the Daimler W5A580 5-speed. For 2021 the Charger Pursuit V8 got ZF 8HP70 and lost the AWD option.

I totally agree with you on the maintenance of Chrysler products. You can't treat them like Toyotas and assume they are going to give you a million miles with no oil changes. Dodge/Chrysler is a different kind of brand. It will respect you as long as you respect it.
@TassieLorenzo10 ай бұрын
So you need to baby it? But how long have Chrysler had to benchmark Toyota quality control? Stricter tolerances, better metallurgy, better quality plastics (basically just don't make so many of the parts so cheap and bargain basement, and be stricter in rejecting parts that are out-of-spec) -- it's not a secret, if they put the effort in, they could match it. Not that Toyota, Honda and Suzuki don't make mistakes too. They also tend to cut costs more on paint & panel (and indeed structural safety like the one-sided front offset crash reinforcement) on their economy cars than Fiat, Chrysler or Dodge. IMO it's more often a genuine engineering or manufacturing mistake with a Toyota, Honda or Suzuki fault rather than a case of "wow this plastic Pentastar V6 oil cooler is so crappy, no wonder it failed! the replacement part is still crappy and will probably fail again too..." There is a distinct whiff of "this is only designed to last the warranty period!" Maybe it's do with Chrysler and Dodge trying to scale down from making big cars and then trying to find ways to make economy cars or their V6 engines more cheaply, where Honda and Suzuki scaled up from making inexpensive motorcycles in an exacting way using few but good quality parts? Granted Honda ran into big problems when trying to scale up to making automatic transmissions for the "torquey" (by Honda standards, lol) V6 engines.

When these first came out, I hated the short profile windows.. and then that design element caught on anyway. (Dodge Magnum for example) While vehicles with low windows and flat noses look aggressive, they're terrible for aerodynamics, visibility, and pedestrian collisions.

It should be easy to rebadge the Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer as a Chrysler and bring the Aspen name back, but many of those models already cost 6 figures, so I don't know how they'll make it happen. Alternatively they could rebadge the Grand Cherokee/Grand Cherokee L.
@mbd50110 ай бұрын
The CDJR brands are all sold at the same dealerships. It’s all the same company. Chrysler has traditionally been the more luxurious models, but instead they’re making Jeeps luxury models now, with their 6 figure prices for some of them. And they seem to be letting Chrysler wither away, with one model left.

The only option the car's missing is the adaptive cruise/auto braking/lane keep assist package. When I was shopping for this car, I test drove a '17 Charger R/T Plus with the package and I wasn't a fan of it. So I picked this model without the driver assist tech. I wish I could've gotten it without the moonroof, I'm 6'3" and need all the head room I can get.

@moeanthony930810 ай бұрын
Thats not the reason they discontinued
@TassieLorenzo10 ай бұрын
@@moeanthony9308 True. In terms of out-of-date, the Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform, under the Jeep Grand Cherokee for example, is however a pretty like-for-like replacement for the Mercedes E-Class platform that this car uses. So FCA/Stellantis could definitely make a new generation if they wanted to: If the sales stack up, if they could fit it under CAFE, if it made economic sense to offer something that's cheaper than the Maserati V8 models etc. I guess Mopar fans just need to spring for the Quattroporte if they want a Stellantis V8 sedan! Obviously the lower volumes of the Maserati make its V8 engine a better fit under CAFE. You can't be selling a lot of V8 sedans unless you want to be paying $200m p/a in CAFE fines as FCA were doing for Chargers and Challengers. (V8 engines are now meant to be exclusive for the very rich until they are phased out entirely, not for the every person, for better or worse.) But still this doesn't exclude FCA's disjointed model strategy. That's not just V8s, that's also economy cars like the Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Alfa Romeo Mito etc being discontinued with no replacement.
