2016 Ducati Hypermotard 939 Motorcycle Review - It's tough to review this genre for the simple fact that it's not equipped or running on the real types of terrain many will be using it with, from a showroom especially in a city. What you get is a very powerful, lightweight agile tiny feeling bike with electronics and refinement expected of a top brand. Everything is silky smooth (except neutral), the powerband is huge and you can pretty much take it anywhere you want to go given the right tires!

I'm glad you enjoyed your brief glimpse into the Ducati fold. I myself own an original Hypermotard 1100 S and it looks like the new liquid cooled motor hasn't fallen far from the family tree. The gearboxes are great but neutral is always hard to find.The motor loves to rev yet remains smooth at freeway speeds and around town. Acceleration is still fierce in 6th gear. Riding one makes you understand why Ducati chose and sticks with this engine layout. Helmet choice also makes a huge difference with this type of bike (I use a Nexx XR1R now) and now I'm convinced I no longer need a windscreen. The Hypermotard is Ducati's take on supermoto motorcycles (dirtbikes with street tires) but with a motor capable of freeway speeds and was never intended for off-road use. This bike appeals to demographic of riders who appreciate the purity of riding and nothing else. As much as I love my Hypermotard, I'm leaning towards something more practical (more travel friendly) like the soon-to-be launched KTM 1290 Super Duke GT. The sexy Italian redhead will never leave my garage. Keep up with the great ride reviews and stay safe out there.

Well said. With Florida roads being mostly straight and flat with lots of highway, the Hyper isn't the best fit. But for twisties, backroads and city riding with a bit of highway it is fantastic - ideal for me, love my 821.

Knobbies!?! It's a Motard!! Great review, I have a 1st gen Hyper and I am thinking of moving to the 939 next year, so thanks for the feedback. The trick to a tall ride height is to not put both feet down. I am 5" shorter than you I just angle the bike slightly and put one leg down, same as my YZ450F.

Best comment in the video - it takes every inch I give it. Neutral is a bugger but it gets easier with miles and you learn to shift into neutral while the bike is still moving but rolling to a stop. I've never ridden a hyper but there are certainly people who own them and they never see dirt. I think the lightness of the bike makes it a pleasure to ride around town. With the hyperstrada, there are people touring with these things. I guess I need to get a test ride on one of these sooner than later. Thanks for the review.

Benelli transmissions are the same, click into neutral before stopping or you will never find it!

This dealership is awesome! They let me come in and demo the slingshot along with the new 2016 Ducati line. I think this bike was my least favorite of the day but maybe it's just not my style. Good video man!

Currently looking for a bike to commute to and from school with, trying to keep the look sporty but make sure it would be comfortable to ride. What do you guys think I should look at besides the hypermotard?

Good quality video there :) one thing want to ask is the seat height good enough for short riders like 5`6 or 5`7 ?

+Simranpalsingh Kohli I am 5'7 and of course you have to jump on the bike from the pegs as on all tall bikes. If you have ever ridden a tall dirt bike, the same technique applies for getting on off. Regarding bike....I have tested last WE both hypermotard and hyperstrada and I adore them. Hyperstrada has lower seat and more comfortable riding position towards middle of the bike. It is so confortable you can go even on a longer trips and suspension is less plushy than hypermotard. However, I don't know why, probably because of the riding position, but I was pushing harder hypermotard than hyperstrada, but it is negligible if you adapt your riding style. For the seat high on hypermotard ducati has an option for a lower seat height, like strada if you want. For this review I think it's an honest one, but only if you would plan to buy this for commuting on large boulevards and straights on highways. I guess in that case as reviewer say it won't be that fun and rewarding, BUT, BUT this bike was not meant for that. The bike was meant to be ridden HARD, and I mean really hard and pushing it in the twisties in the mountains and country road and in Sport mode. Luckily I live in the radius of 100 kms from beautiful mountain roads in Alps where you can experience that. This bike you should ride like supermotard, or as ducati says hyper - motard to get the most of it. :). The bike is the ultimate fun, sex on the wheels. I couldn't get enough of it. I have Aprilia Tuno V4, which is a monster, but I fell in love with this bike. I couldn't ride it below 5k, because I wanted to keep smiling and enjoying rumbling sound from the exhaust from 5k - 10k on each acceleration and each curve I take and each exit from it, when you crack it.

you should do "used" bike reviews. Get people from Tampa and st Pete area to lend you their bikes for a "In depth" review that'd be sweet

Nice review. Couple of traditional Italian bike traits - every Italian bike I've ridden has had a beautifully smooth transmission, secondly not being easy to find neutral. My Ducati finds neutral easily, but my Benelli is an absolute swine - impossible to select neutral while running with a hot engine. I find you soon get used to clicking into neutral before stopping though.

If you can’t find neutral, gradually let the clutch out until it bites. Then pull the clutch back in and you’ll be able to find neutral.

How is the wind for interstate use, could you do say 80 miles without being too fatigued?
@osafoca
@osafoca 7 жыл бұрын
Yes 80 miles is no problem. If you are mostly doing highway miles and long trips though a bigger screen (like the one that the hyperstrada has) would help.

Great job brother. I laughed my ass off with your comment about pedestrians getting clipped cuz the cross street illegally, wearing dark clothes and having zero perception with oncoming traffic speed as they are OLD, BLIND and many missing brain cells and/or are high or drunk. A lot of dopers down there in Fl. ( Not dogging Fl, but I am from Texas) ha ha

WEIRD.. This bike in India comes with a seat height of 810 mm (31.9 inch) as opposed to everywhere else where it's (870mm) 34+ inches. See the Indian website here: www.india.ducati.com/bikes/hypermotard/hypermotard_939/tech_spec.do versus here" www.ducati.com/bikes/hypermotard/hypermotard_939/tech_spec.do So I'm sure it's possible to lower the seat height fairly easy on this bike without extreme mods.
