Ducati Hypermotard, its a bike I quite often consider owning being a die hard supermoto fan. Its comfortable, powerful, handles great but its very Ducati...

Had the same problem on my KTM SMT. Solved it by keeping my right index finger on the brake as a sort of gauge and being smoother on the clutch. These bikes really want to be actively ridden all the time, no lazy rides, ever.

Absolutely love your ride and review - mispronunciations are a sign of character and style ! Having ridden in the beloved UK and Europe in the far past it wonderfully reminds of the narrow roads - *and traffic that actually see bikes* ( also the bizarre side of the road issue; watch out Americans when in the UK)--- BUT!!! The UK is just #2 in politeness of it's people- just behind our fantastic friends to the North in Canada - the *most polite humans on Earth*. (Except in Quebec which should secede :D -watch your ass there my friends)

Nice vid. I rode the original 1100 Hypermotard back in 2007 and it was mental and fun at the same time. But not the sporty mile-muncher I was looking for at the time. I had trouble with the gearbox on that one too, so they ain't changed much in that respect ;)

V twins are brilliant, love my 990 SMT. Essentially a 1000cc supermoto (that can carry luggage), mint in the twisties only really shows it's weight on the stupidly tight single track lanes where you can't man handle the bike as much and the little SM's will pull away.

I adored hypermotard 939 when I tried it the first time last year. Sex on the wheels, and such a fun to ride. However, one thing which kind of turned me away from it is that standard model does not have fully adjustable forks, especially for that price tag. SP is a much more expensive for having adjustable forks and enters the playground of SD, MT10 SP and Tuono :).

+Lamb Chop Rides The 821 (2013) generation Motards had an ECU problem, which made them switch off. Its been fixed, Monster 821 still on model range and seem reliable etc. I'd imagine the new Motard 939 has completely new electrics, considering how quickly bike electrics are evolving. The problem with Ducati right now, especially anything to do with the Motard is all you'll hear is a brigade of Snowcat fans bitching about them. Bunch of kids who probably don't even own a bike never mind a Ducati. I've owned a Ducati for 2 years and 0 issues, only time its spent in dealership is service and fresh tyres. Loving the bike, the dealership, reliability, everything has been top notch.

I didn't test ride one but only threw my leg over it when in a dealer, didn't like the seat height TBH (2016 model - don't know if it's changed or if there is a low seat option). I'm 6' and felt like I was on tip toe, not good for a fairly heavy bike using every day for me. But damn, it's a stunning looking bike and looks like a laugh hooning it about.

I had a friend who had one and he ended up getting rid of if due to electronic issues. It didn't help the local Ducati dealer was almost 2 hours drive away. This was before I saw SnowCat's problems too. If they have that finally sorted it would be a good bike but doesn't it compete directly with your 701?
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 7 жыл бұрын
+DeathsStalkerRVT yes reliability is a worry but this is a different model with new engine and wiring so I'm told... your also right it's a similar ride to the 701 but it cruises very well and is way more comfortable so you can do some milage on it which you can't on the 701. For a bike for me the top requirement is fun, this certainly has that but so does the 701 and it does worry me they are too similar perhaps... so dam tough to decide what I want good job I have to sell mine first as this could take me awhile haha

would you chop in your 701 for this? I did consider the hypermotard before I bought my 701. I didn't manage to test ride the Ducati and just bought the 701 without riding it also. The Ducati will surely cost massively more to maintain over the 701, which did sway my decision a bit.
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 7 жыл бұрын
No I wouldn't trade the 701 that is a more focused supermoto and much better on the small lanes I go on more often. Hyper is better for faster roads and if you need to do some distance.. Yes and maintainance costs will surely be higher! :-)
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 7 жыл бұрын
deeyup Other than tires and brakes, where would the extra maintenance costs come from? They have 30,000 km valve adjustment intervals. I guess oil changes actually as the Ducati holds nearly 3 times the oil, still not that much though as they have 15,000km oil change intervals.

Sport mode is incredibly twitchy in terms of throttle response. Most spirited riding can be done in touring or medium engine. Sport is more for track use, when you need to slide the back out. Dunno if you noticed that you can wheelie with TC on? Some Ducati devil magic there.
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 7 жыл бұрын
Wheelie my Perd You can lift the front tire up but you can't wheelie with dtc on.
@WheeliePerd
@WheeliePerd 7 жыл бұрын
You can do proper wheelie's with DTC on. You cannot snap the clutch closed-open(TC will kick in), but if you slip the clutch, you certainly can do proper wheelies. Pulling wheelies from a dead stop, will deactivate the ABS though.
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 6 жыл бұрын
Wheelie Perd If I have mine set on anything above 4 then the throttle cuts when I lift and try to hold it. Even th odd time going from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th while in a wheelie the throttle cuts at 4.

Well, it's either mt10 and 701 combo or go Ducati hyper SP and only have 1 bike. A bit risky knowing about the previous bikes reliability issues. If it we me I'd go mt10 and keep the 701 for the sm fun as the Ducati would be a compromise everywhere. As it's not a full-on sm nor is it a proper naked street bike it's a bit of both. So it half does things right but not quite everything right as it isn't as light and chuckable as the sm or a fast and comfy as the super naked.

Should've comes with fuel gauge at least ! who will measure the warning light ? if it blinks while we going for a long ways with no nearest fuel station.
@roadgecko
@roadgecko 6 жыл бұрын
I got no problems so far. You should be able to drive aprox 80km. The fuel empty light on my hypermotard allways goes on after around 175-200km. So you know how far you can drive.

POI RIDER It's not hard to trip your rides, I set mine for 200km which still leaves me with a 50km roughly space to get to a station. It does come with an Italian fuel gauge (an odometer).

@MRBIGCOHONEZ
@MRBIGCOHONEZ 7 жыл бұрын
Lamb Chop Rides Ok, I can understand that. I never said all Italian bikes were shit. Just the Ducatis. If you're going to review something you should let your viewers know about any issues with the bike. I watched your review on the aprilia RSV4 and I can agree that that bike is amazing and it has plenty of" character." I just don't understand why people will pay an arm and a leg for something that doesn't work. I rather be riding than fixing garbage that not even Ducati certified techs know how to fix. As for Ducati as a companu is very shady for making snowcat sign a gag order. Is because of people like you that they don't improve their product. I have a CBR, and A KTM, and I am now looking at the Aprilia as a future bike.
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 7 жыл бұрын
+Oscar yes I did see the gag order which is a worry but I'm sure any other bike company would do the same tbh. That model had problems no doubt, hoping the new one is better and the issues resolved. Trouble with issues is all bikes have them, it's not just the European bikes and it's unfair to speak about issues when you don't have direct experience and are just quoting Internet BS. Before I bought my 701 which is basically a ktm 690 everyone told me they were unreliable, one year on & no issues.

I'm not a fan of Ducati motorcycles. They're expensive and very inefficient compared to Japanese sportbikes like Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki! Another thing which a really dislike about them is the single-sided swingarm that they come with!
@NWGJulian
@NWGJulian 7 жыл бұрын
killer14bee well that might be true, but people dont buy bikes because of "rational" reasons. there is something special about european, especially italian, bikes. that special feeling, it's like driving a ferrari or a alfa romeo, you dont get that feeling on a honda ... of course you can get better value for your money, but i would always prefer a ducati or a aprilia
@DonC23
