Has Fan Zhendong's game already peaked? His performance in this one is hardly any better than last year. Ma Long is clearly the more skilled and accomplished player with a much more complete array of weapons with fewer weaknesses. For Fan, his game is a little too backhand heavy to be complete no matter how effective it is. He's like an evolved Zhang Jike, and that playing style is a pretty well-known quantity now. The best asset for him is his youth, and his prime time for award-winning depends obviously on how long Ma Long could sustain his game at his pinnacle because he's the only one who's standing in Fan's way on conquering the table tennis world. If I were Fan, I would hope and pray that Ma Long would retire soon before other younger rivals emerge and take away his hardware in the future.

Well, I think in this match we didn't see Fan's best performance. He could have done better. I think Fan's technical skill is not inferior to Ma (forehand or backhand). It's the overall governance of the game (experience, strategy and etc.) that he still have a long way to catch up with Ma. BTW, Ma's decided to defend his crown in Tokyo.

Calm down dude, Ma's forehand is much more flexible and faster while Fan's more powerful. What I mean is the gap between their forehands is smaller than that in their backhands. Of course Ma won more points with forehand, but not in the rounds with many back and forth which directly reflect their technical skill. Ma is so experienced that he could capture any tiny mistake of Fan.

My coach from China gives me the China National team's blue sponge hurricane rubber black side, I put it on the forehand and Tenergy 64 on the backhand side, With Jun Mitzutani Super ZLC, the speed and spin was just incredible

Seriously, with the type of rubber these guys use it`s crazy. I`m used to the softer European ones, but I recently switched to the Hurricane 3 and double happiness. Holy shit, it`s a very different feeling from the stroke, everything. It`s take some time to get used to, but the rubbers feel great.

Yes, but the real truth is the rubbers you have must be totally different from what these guys are using. Even though they claim they're the same as what you get commercially, it's been a rather well-known truth inside the circle of people-in-the-know that the national caliber Chinese players are supplied with specially made rubbers that are only for their use, and they're recovered by the government after they're worn out to avoid others from utilizing and studying on them. So much so that they're literally considered to be a national secret.
