So much for torque winning races. Jag had the power:weight advantage too. Ouch. My guess is Jag's programming makes it feather in too much to make the drivetrain last longer with that torque. Can't look at a F-Pace the same way again.

if you watch the previous video - the person who drove this car didn't know how to drive the F-pace and didn't pull back on the paddle for the launch control which meant the car took off in 2nd gear on the F-pace.

Taking off in 1st gear made a 0.2-second difference - it's explained in the written review. The video showing the instrument cluster is just an example. We always test vehicles multiple times, in various ways to find the absolute best/quickest time possible (in real-world conditions). We only video a sprint once as it is too time consuming to video every timed run and then match up the footage to the VBox results.

If you're not getting the Supercharged petrol V6 F pace, then you probably shouldn't worry about getting one at all.

I have driven the F Pace at the Millbrook Proving Ground (on the acceleration straight) in the UK and it is not a sub 6 second car to 60 mph, no way. I have owned a couple of XF's both 3.0d, one being the S Model with supposedly 275bhp. Lovely cars, but Jag are either fibbing about the power output or the weight, as it is not as fast as they say it is. Looks like the same for the F-Pace. Handles really well though.

Looks like the majority of the BMW's lead is established by 60kph. Perhaps the launch is just that different - from 60 to 100 the gap only grows by a further sixth of a second.

Bmw 3.0 engine is dreadful. Uk police have stopped using them as that unreliable and damn right dangerous

"Dangerous"? My personal car is a 2018 X3 30d and it has had no problems at all. We've covered 84,000km in it. The vehicle featured in this video was my actual car as well. My wife and I owned it between 2015-2018. It was so good we had to buy the new (at the time) 2018 model. What problems have you heard about specifically? The engine in general?

@@PDriveTVHe is right about the engines, BMW 3.0 diesels have a history of blowing themselves up. Remember the swirl flaps on the pre 2008 cars? Then the timing chain failures on the pre 2015 cars? This b57 seems okay but time will tell. Jaguar v6 diesel is no better, snapped crankshafts are common. The very best diesel engine is the 3.0 tdi produced only between 2008 and 2015 - bullet proof.
