I own a Mkx and I absolutely love everything about it! Take this review with a grain of Salt because I drove Lexus,BMW and Mercedes and preferred Lincoln by far! Bigger cabin,easy access to everything and lots of power and safety features! I also totally disagree with assessment of Revel stereo system,It is fantastic! I chose 2.7 twin turbo V6 and it’s awesome and don’t get me started on the ride it’s exceptional as well! Value his opinion but, I think it’s better and definitely more affordable than fixing a German or Japanese model!

Got my MKX a week ago. It does circles around the '12 MKX that I had. Totally loaded out - 2.7 Ecoboost, adaptive steering, Revel Ultimate, the works !

Did you test drive any other SUV's before buying? I'm coming out of a bmw x5 soon and really like the look of the MKX

@@aprimalheart Wow I wanted my family to get the 2018 MKX/ 2019 Nautilus new for a lease, & we ended up getting a 2015 BMW X5 which is missing so many things the MKX/ Nautilus would have 🤦🏽‍♂️🙄

I have a 2017 Lincoln Continental the massage seats are amazing driving or just in park waiting for someone. I have to say as a Benz owner I came away impress by the continental and because of that I brought one.

Other test sites have rated both the Lincoln MKX and MKC above their Lexus counterparts and second only to their Mercedes counterparts.

I think Lincoln may be making the right decision with keeping their models similar to Fords. Sure, enthusiasts want Lincoln to have completely different vehicles from Ford, and be like Lexus or Acura, but what decision will sell more vehicles? Like you mentioned Sam, Cadillac has done a lot in the past few years to completely differentiate their models from Chevrolet, but what is Cadillac's best seller: their Escalade; which is a really nice Yukon Denali; which is a nicer Tahoe LTZ.

Great review! I test drove the black label and the lower trim with 3.7 v6 and even in top spec, my feelings were the same as you. I would call this a nice Mercury level effort and short of what Ford wants the Lincoln brand to be. Leather seats weren't all that. They were OK but ok doesn't cut it in this price range. The ride was again ok but very disconnected. The sport mode does tighten things up but the whole car and steering feel was just numb. Personally, I wouldn't compare this to the German three or even Lexus. This is on the level of an Acura and Buick in terms of fit/finish and feel but it does have a lot more electronic gizmos to offer. I expect heavy discounts because of this very reason. People will cross shop it with those near luxury brands.

The advantage of the 2.7 is that the water pump is not on the inside, like the 3.7 NA. That's why the 3.7 is significantly less $ in today's resale market.

Have you actually compared a comparable loaded BMW, Mercedes or the other brands that you mentioned? I believe that you cannot get those premium brands loaded at an equal or lower price.

road noise comes from the type of tires goodyears or firestones only quiet tires

I like your reviews since you pay attention to some details others don't. the worst thing about Lincoln is that its designers can't agree to give its cars a character. every few years they change the grill and other factors determining a brand's character like BMW, Mercedes , etc. I'd love to love Lincoln but I can't.

If you instrument tested the noise you would find it’s a bit quieter than the Lexus, Lexus, or Lexus you commented on.

Good overall review although missing a few important points. How would you rate a night time drive, ie headlights adaptive or otherwise, ambient lighting, heater/ac function, remote start and keyfob layout would all be nice. So if you comparably equipped a lexus, bmw , MB or audi how much more dollar wise is the Lincoln? Also service costs seem to be quite a bit higher for the german brands as I had an 08 GL320 and I never seemed to escape the service bay under $300 or more.

I know this is an old thread but I'm going to interject here, I bought a 2016 used with a $65,000 sticker, for 38000 with 24000 miles on it! The night-time driving is incredible with the interior ambient lighting, not to mention the welcome lighting that greet you when you have a key fob in your pocket and walk up to the car! I drove both the Ford Edge and this before I purchase the Lincoln, there's no comparison actually! Especially when it comes to the all-wheel-drive, there's just a lot more detail and how the all-wheel-drive matches up with this chassis and delivers an awesome ride, that coupled with the Adaptive steering you get with the upgraded audio package for 4 grand puts this leads ahead of the Lexus, BMW, Etc. Lexus infotainment system completely sucks having to use that pad thing, no touch screen, for real? This blows Lexus a way in almost every aspect.

I was going to say, doesn't Made In America matter to anyone, but I found out that the MKX is made in Canada. If it was made in America, I would still expect excellence, but not require perfection, and I'd consider buying it. The Lincoln MKX is made in Canada, so it's on its own with me... The Lincoln MKC is made in Kentucky, so I'll watch some reviews about that. I'm going to buy American to help support the economy no matter what. I just have to find a great car that's made here.

uhm check the pics.. the switch gear in all of these is nearly identical to their cheaper platform mates. Car and Driver has said that, so has Motor Trend. The Lincoln has proven to be quieter at speed and at idle than its competitors and meets or exceeds them in every performance category. It also actually uses all four wheels front to back and side to side full time, instead of the cheaper "front wheel slip, lets engage the rear, Im screwed if one wheel slips" system.

and nearly every auto magazine rated the THX sound system in lincolns at the top of the segment, and that the Revel system is even better. I think the lady doth protest too much
