Most people want a taller gear when they supercharge, hence the reason I ordered mine with 3.55s instead of 3.73s. 3.55 is kind of a good middle ground. I can't imagine how much the car is going to spin with that aggressive of a gear setup. I mean traction with a blower is going to be hard regardless, but still. To each their own.

I have the 3.73 gears on my '16 GT, PP. Love them. Think the whole "you have to shift too much" thing with them is overplayed. Would like to supercharge eventually and still keep these gears despite the commonly held belief that 2nd gear is too short.. Also like your exhaust note. Really enjoy your channel! Yeah, the dealership where I bought mine from is an authorized Roush dealer. They had one in there the other day. The one that I saw didn't have the Performance Package on it or any of the Roush exterior mods. It just had the Phase 1 Supercharger. It's cool if you want to buy the car supercharged already. But, buying it from an authorized dealer, you can buy any Mustang on the lot, get them to add on the super charger and have it included in financing. That way you aren't limited in your choice of color, options, etc.

@GuytheCarGuy8 жыл бұрын
Lightweight rear end + that gear + a blower = you'll be doing this again real soon. The Torsen rear end is a much better differential. The stock GT unit isn't rated for heavy duty use. The Torsen unit is a gear driven LSD where the "Trak-Lock" differential uses a clutch system. I've seen people using those differentials blow them out on S550s in under 10,000 miles under moderate boost applications (575-650hp, approx 580 torque). The Torsen is a much better option for peace of mind, longevity, and dependability. The PP comes with a Torsen... a 3.73 gear swap is going to greatly reduce the life of that rear end (again, mainly due to the increased torque being delivered to that clutch assembly in the differential).
@dtrooperVideo7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I am wondering if for the sake of covering the process, they didn't show any torque wrenches being used. If none were used, I'd be concerned about the overall integrity of the reassembly!

My comment was due to the fact that the old 5.0s from fox body days were the preferred gear with the higher revving coyote it seems that us older gear heads select the 3.73 as a throwback I'm in a 2015 with pp and the 3.73, I think the 3.55 with NA would be ideal and with forced induction the 3.31 would be the best setup personal preference aside. To each his own i say and as long as he is content then so be it. With the blower getting to the powerband quick not an issue at any gear but with the lower gearing your top end performance is optimal...imho

Great video. I can imagine that thing is just flat nasty banging through the gears. Super clean ride and that coming from a Camaro owner. I'm running the stock 3.45 gear. I plan on keeping my car NA so I may put in a 3.91. If I owned a mustang and wanted it supercharged I'd run a 3.55 gear. NA the 3.73 is the way to go for me all day. But, it's your car man and I always find it interesting to see what guys do to their rides and why. That's what makes the muscle car lifestyle so fun. Since we're on the topic of gears and there seems to be a wide variety of 2015+ GT's in your videos, how big of a difference in acceleration is there between the manual transmission 3.31 to 3.55 to 3.73's? I'm speaking more real world tests, from standstill and rolling at speed. Is it very noticeable going from 3.31 or 3.55's to 3.73's? I've had 3.73's and 4.10's in the past on older Mustangs, but I've read the newer Mustang already has shorter individual gearing from 1st to 4th and some say 3.73's are too short for a daily driver in and around the city.
@davidrussell45698 жыл бұрын
Seat of the pants 3.73s or even 3.55s feel stronger than 3.31s seat of the pants however that extra torque multiplication comes at the expense of slower speeds in each gear. I've seen a bunch of races and it's a drivers race as the guy with 3.73s is shifting a lot more often to get to the same speed.
