Nissan’s traditionally polarizing Murano crossover SUV has always been about both style and substance. Now, in 2016, it appears the Murano is about style over substance. While the design certainly takes a step forward into the future, the rest of the Murano increasingly feels stuck in the past.
Every single 2016 Nissan Murano is equipped with a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine. This is the automaker’s legendary VQ-series V6, a refined, efficient, and deceptively strong powerplant that revs freely, sounds terrific doing so, and has proven dependable over time. Too bad I came nowhere near the EPA’s official fuel-economy estimate in combined driving, logging just 21.1 mpg when I expected 24 mpg.
Nissan fumbles when it comes to increasingly common infotainment system enhancements. If you’re seeking smartphone projection technology in the form of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you’ll need to buy a different SUV. The automaker’s new NissanConnect subscription services solution is also absent from the Murano. That means you can’t get automatic collision notification, easy access to roadside assistance, a stolen-vehicle locator, or Google-sourced functions related to finding things and sending destinations to the vehicle in advance of a journey. Also, speed, curfew, boundary, and valet alerts are all missing from the Murano. Read more on CarGurus: cargur.us/8qTmZ

Way too much personal opinion on subjective style. How about focus on features and drive, and leave the subjective stuff to the rest of us!

I love that overdone style... I very different from the rest of the SUV or crossovers. The others looks like grannies crossovers, but not this Murano. In my opinion, has a great style, an attention grabber for sure.

I drive 2015 Murano in hilly part of upstate NY alot. Let me tell you this car feels way more confident on serpentine road than 2004 . Which i drove before alot on those same mountain roads. New Murano has lower center of mass, wider and slightly longer body , which makes it less prone to body roll, while passing a curvy road. Now dont get me wrong, this car is no match to BMWs and Audis in terms of handling. This is not a sport utility vehicle. But than you learn how to handle it on curves and than its fun again. Its CVT tends to upshit and drop rpms as soon as it feels fit. Gives good mileage, but not a very sporty experience. 2 years with car, still like it alot ....

For a seasoned driver (judging by your age), you're holding the steering wheel wrong. Maybe that's why you have too many complaints about the handling.

Coming from an 06 murano to the 2015 I agree with a lot off your views.Regardless this is a great suv for the price.I do still miss the sportiness and pep from the 06.After 15 months off ownership I'm still excited to hit the start button.

I have a 07 and I loved it. This new Murano is longer by length, but the reviewer says it feels less airy and wide. I do like the new exterior and interior, looks like a Maxima on steroids but ill just have to test drive it.

Then you play imposter saying you own a Murano. Not true I owned first Gen it was cramped. This one is open as it gets. Cvt did weird things in both First and second generation. Not this one. It's impressive. For people that don't believe what I'm saying go to any other reviews they state that over and over. To understand this vehicle it's a show piece car. You can make any car look weird with those off angle camera tricks. And If you don't want a lot of attention do not buy this suv. Go see it in person or on the road. This was not meant to be a road twister. You left so much out about this vehicle it's not a review. Not trying to bash you, but get more detailed in future reviews. People are trying to make there decision on a expensive purchase. Try not to put your beliefs on your reviews. Stay neutral as possible.

I owned a 07 Murano it definitely wasn't cramped especially for the wide and spacious reclineable backseats. This new Murano is bigger so it should feel more spacious inside.
@dot.s9140
@dot.s9140 8 жыл бұрын
Ness Rosenbrad compared to the new Murano it is. They just threw bench seats back there. I owned them all. This is brand new from the ground up. There's space all around this vehicle it's open, no cramping. That means leg room. Seats recline, head room is not cut short in the back like previous models. Mines is fully loaded with tech package and all. So when you open the sliding roof it makes it even more open. Believe me this is a different vehicle all together. The other models were basic compared to this. This is I arrived type vehicle. Maybe not for everyone cause it's very flashy on the road gets a lot of attention. But if you don't mine and can afford it go for it. At 50 k once you finance this thing. There's a lot of options out there at that price. But they all look the same Lexus, Range Rovers, Bmw, Audi, and now Jaguars, and Volvo and can't forget Mercedes. Why I didn't I choose them, there boring to drive and look at. You see them on the road a lot like fords. If I'm gonna spend this type of money I don't want to see my vehicle 40 times before I get home. It takes the value away.

Dot. S Very true I usually go for the Cara people don't usually have. Even right now I still don't see ALOT of these new Muranos yet. I see the new Maxima more and it came out after it. I wouldn't get the Platinum, I would get SV or Sl in a lease or finance.
@dot.s9140
@dot.s9140 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah the new maxima is like Lexus you see them a lot. Nissan must have some deal of some sort on those things. The reason you don't see the Murano a lot because of the price 43 k for fully loaded Sl 45k for fully loaded platinum. Most people say I rather have a Bmw or Lexus for that price. They need that name on there car but get less all because of a name. It's funny when I'm at a stop light or drive past those vehicles the reactions I get. Makes there shit look cheap. All I can tell you a 50k vehicle is a 50 k vehicle it's day and night compared to 20 to 30 k vehicles. You can't go wrong with this CUV trust me. Awd plus tech package get it in black like I did watch the haters hate. You would think I'm driving a Bently the amount of hateful looks I get in this thing. But good luck and best wishes on getting yours you'll love it...
@Nestle245
@Nestle245 8 жыл бұрын
Dot. S LOL I was gonna get it in black, black looks the best to me with this crossover. Someone has a grey one across the street from me and that's the first time I thought to myself it's bigger than the old one. I don't really want a huge vehicle, I don't have a family and all my friends practically have cars by now so the backseat wouldn't be used much, but it does look good I was just a little weary of the size.

Regardless of the design, the seats in this car are the barometer for comfort for any other vehicle. God the seats are comfortable. What I didn't like was the sitting position and blind spots in the back.

Whoa whoa whoa this guy is a joke. I own this suv fully loaded. First off not a budget car for 50k, budget cars are 15k to 20k. Second lost all respect for you when I looked at your review on the 16 Ford Edge sport. Bad breaks, bad seats , poor crash results, looks like a lunch box, navi system sucks the list goes on how bad that suv is , but wait for it you loved it. That lets me know you do not like foreign cars. Saying it's better than this and a Audi wow!!! Just give a review. That edge is not on the level of this Murano or any other brand that's selling at this price. They just put it at the same price as this category to see if people bite. Ford's are garbage used to own one nothing but problems. That edge drives like shit rattles like it's falling apart. Plastic bolts. You see so many edges on the road cause there cheap. They don't hold there value cause they price them wrong. They're a 30k vehicle next to Hyundai and Kia that's there competition. This is competing with Lexus.
@Dejesusluis87
@Dejesusluis87 8 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you . This guy was paid to bash on the Murano. A CUV that sets the bar for others to compete. Not perfect by any means, but pretty close. My partner has the latest Lexus RX and the new Murano is very comparable, which I will lease the Murano next year when my Infiniti lease is over. This vehicle is all about comfort, style and efficiency. This guy sucks giving reviews as he is not neutral. I guess he is bad at his job, and therefore his wife has to drive a 10yo old Murano. BTW not a budget vehicle, at all!
@dot.s9140
@dot.s9140 8 жыл бұрын
luis dejesus Thanks for the same point of view. They all forget Nissan created this CUV market when they was told a small suv will fail. Everyone in the industry had to play catch up when it turned out to be successful. With this Murano they took back there title of setting the bar high for looks and styling inside and out. There's nothing on the the road that looks better than this from no luxury brand. It just seems to me when Nissan does it right it's not considered luxury. I thought 50k was considered luxury for a vehicle. Nope not when Nissan does it, but for Lexus ,Acura, Range Rover, Volvo,and Audi it is. Those cars all over hyped rated bullshit. What they don't tell you they only get praise from reviewers so they can test there high end sports cars and flag ships. There told to bash cars like this if they don't no more reviews of there products. 2017 GTR nismo is my next purchase that car as well gets bashed. They try to say it's a bargain car at 120,000 to 150,000 really. Then compare it to 1, million to 2, million dollar cars to be considered a super car really, But yet it's one of the top five fastest cars in the world. Forget what they say. The reactions on the road is the real reviews.

Completely agree with you about the hideous headlights! They are the most distastefully shaped headlights in the auto industry. Seriously, Nissan should replace Murano's headlights with something similar to the Rogue. Also, the extremely sharp rear end of the door panel (fake wood) trim should be redesigned too, because in a car crash that could cause serious injury to the driver/passenger!!

it's getting pretty old to hear these car reviewers talk about athletic handling and overwrought styling and mediocre interiors when they are miles better than the cars we used to have and drive. This guy's Murano is a POS compared to the modern ones and him and his wife have the audacity to complain about the new ones? I had a 2012 and it was miles better than his 1st gen and this new one is miles better than mine was. Yes I know he's paid for his opinion but really? you're going to ding a crossover for not having athletic handling? That's like me dinging it for not being able to rock crawl. Not the mission, not the point. it's a crossover that seats 5 and has a touch of luxury. it's not a Porsche Macan and it's not a Jeep Wrangler. You'd think these people who review things for a living would know that and stop dinging these cars for what they aren't and critique them for what they are.

Test drove the same car I wasn't impressed either for the price. I test drove the AWD and didn't like the way it felt on the road, under acceleration. It was just...lack luster overall. Dont Buy Nissan, I owned a Nissan Murano years ago, its the worse decision I made to buy this scrap. Not only the quality its poor, but the service. I live in Mexico and the Nissan shops are very corrupt, they steal the people by not doing the service they should. Tons of people report they don’t get the oil changes and replacement parts they charge. Problems are never solved properly and there are tons of complaints. I am glad they are sawing what they deserve. I made may complaints and never receive attention, Now I am with Honda, Ford and GM. Better quality at least for the same or better price cars.
