People saying this car is underpowered, must be the people that drive a hundred plus miles per hour on a daily basis. With a manual transmission, this car can be very peppy. Why do people think 106 horsepower is a bad thing, when it gets 42 miles per gallon. Is that not the point of this vehicle, to get great gas mileage? I mean come on,... you do not need horsepower and a 5-second 0 to 60 when you're driving this car on a daily basis. This car is a great value at around 16 or $15,000 especially when it gets 42 miles per gallon. Every other car out there is a lot more expensive and gets nothing close to 31 city 42 highway. Only the stupid puppet sheep need to show off and spend 20 plus Grand on a vehicle that gets 20 miles per gallon. I feel sorry for you people.

What is it with mentioning the rear brakes? MOST econo cars do NOT have 4 wheel disc. Underpowered? 0-60 in 8.5 seconds is not a Slouch in this segment. That is arguably pretty Quick. I would get a Rio for under 13 grand base form, give up some features for better HP and equal or better fuel economy, with more space, but the iA is great fun.

Hello Kelley Blue Book reviewers! Micah and Zach: you are two of my favorite (and two of the cutest) car reviewers on KZbin! ( though I also like Carlos Lago (sorry :-( ) I am a proud owner of the Scion iM and I bought it with the 6-speed!! I'm not sure why so many reviewers don't like my car. I love my Scion iM despite a few faults). It's the cutest and sportiest hatch out there for $20K. Guys, let me break it down for you.. The Scion iM is like a great pair of yoga pants. It makes you look cute and sporty in it (just because you wear yoga pants doesn't mean your a yogi--likewise, the Scion iM (or maybe the Toyota Matrix??) looks sporty but a VW GTI or Focus ST it is not but it is sporty looking with the aero kit and most notably, the LARGE 17" rims that I haven't found on a comparably priced car. The Scion is dependable and comfortable just like your favorite yoga pant. Ladies, aren't yoga pants *the* turn-to pants in your closet? And just like you would buy a pair of yoga paints from a reputable brand, likewise the (Toyota) Scion iM (e.g. "a descendant of a notable family") will last you a long time. Yes, the Scion iM isn't a perfect car (only 137 hp, mushy shifter) but how many *other* Scion iM's will you see driving down the street? Plus, unlike the Mazda3, you won't, at least in the near term, see a stripped down version of the iM.
@zachvlasuk8 жыл бұрын
+SupercuteandSexy Did you watch my iM review? I actually really liked it, though I can neither confirm nor deny its affiliation with a great pair of yoga pants.

The iM was not a Mazda and was incredibly boring to drive, although for most people that wasn't a dealbreaker in this segment. Just like the regular Yaris was incredibly boring to drive until they outsourced the hatch to Mazda in its last years in America.

The only brand I've seen make great strides is Hyundai. My 2018 elantra has 126k on it and all I've done outside normal maintenance, like air filters, spark plugs, and a daytime running lamp, is a wheel bearing. So far its pound for pound the most reliable car I've ever owned.

It's too bad Scion is going away. Actually having GOOD cars at GOOD no haggle prices was what made them popular when they first hit the streets. But Toyota left Scion on the fine to rot. Now when they finally have two GOOD cars at GOOD no haggle prices just hitting Scion dealers again (iA and iM), they pull the plug on the Scion brand. No haggle pricing is very appealing to most normal buyers. He mentions "if $2500 more is not an issue, then buy". Well, we could play the "for just a little more" game all day until we are shopping Aston Martins. lol. Most people shopping this class of vehicle are looking for the most car for the lowest price. $2500 is actually quite a lot on a 17k price- assuming you can even find a similarly equipped model on dealer lots tat doesn't cost way more due to being loaded to the gills as most dealers seem to buy basic price leader models and then extremely loaded up models. Hopefully Toyota offers some type of gaping mouth cover option when this get rebadged as a Toyota.
@krisschedler8 жыл бұрын
+brealistic1970 ... no haggle is for suckers. You can always haggle, and if you do not haggle, then you are doing it wrong. Embrace the haggle..
@SMgrimbldoo7 жыл бұрын
krisschedler Nope, no haggle is the way to go. Services like TrueCar are making it so that you can instantly compare between dealerships, meaning that they're going to bring their prices down as low as they can to avoid losing customers. It's "no haggle" because they can't haggle.
