Great, great, great. What these young people are doing is just incredible. Accuracy, dynamics, life, excellent improvisational skills. What more could anyone want? The leader is just amazing, and the young band plays like a GOOD professional band. No "comeback" players here!

There is no doubt that any young person who is blessed to be playing with Joan Chamorro will succeed in music! These people are multi-talented for sure. Andrea Motis is adorable! For some time, they came from a public&municipal music school in Barcelona - hence the name. Alas, for the longest time, they are separate. Still, most kids will come from Barcelona as their parents will have to live and work there. His secret is how to wake their musicality and keep them motivated for so long...

Do all these kids double on every instrument! Now Alba Armengou is playing sax and Abril who normally plays drums is on trumpet and of course Andrea plays trumpet, sax, sings lead voc and voc bgs, Magali plays bass, sings lead and bgs, Ilea plays violin, sax, sings lead and bgs. And always with feeling! Unbelievable.

Most of the time I have listened to composed band stuff waiting for the soloists, and even then, only 1-2 of the soloists. and i mean big bands like Basie. But these cats are like the Basie KC Six and Bird rolled together and every soloist is worth listening to, even when they are 8 years old. My fav word: breathtaking. And that trombone solo? Yowza! Again, its not my fav instrument, not at all. But wow...

Great tune, and everyone is so loose that they produce a really tight sound, if that makes any sense. I do feel sorry for Rita -- she's way off on the right side, in the dark. She must have been naughty. :) Great job by all, and it's overflowing with joy. I had missed this video earlier, glad I found it!

I just found out that although Horace Silver wrote the music (1959), Eddie Jefferson wrote the lyrics (1961) which first appeared on Moody's album Cookin' The Blues.

My problem is that i cannot get those dvd:s an cd:s here in Sweden that i long for and as a poor pensioner i have to save money before i can make it to Barcelona. But dear Joan Chamorro, you, your fabulous musicians and singer make my day and life. This form of pure living jazz performed by you makes life worth living

Sunday 26th one concert for SAJB (Stockholm). Monday 27th one concert (Sundsvall). Tuesday 28th, a workshop day including one short concert (Örnsköldsvik). Wednesday 29th one concert (Härnösand).

The super enthusiastic trompet girl is Abril Saurí who plays the drums as her main instrument. She also sings sometimes. In fact, most of these wonderful talented youngsters, if not all, master more than one instrument.
