Taylor's answer to the Gibson J-45 and I actually like it quite a bit... Excellent mid-range, tonal character is throaty, but also has a clang and even dare I say a little hint of Gibson' s signature thump sound with Taylor sparkle on top of it. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but this is probably the best singer-songwriter guitar in their entire lineup. I would say the singer-songwriter's idea guitar re-imagined. I hope it gains a following because it deserves one.

I own this guitar with a sunburst top. It's 100 x's better all around than the J-45 in my opinion for several hundred $ less. But, to be frank, if you're spending this much $$ on a guitar, the $$ alone wont sway your opinion. Buy what sounds best to you. It almost plays itself. And I've played several J45's and all Hog Martins. Not hating on those fine guitars, but, IMO the 510e is better all around. The neck shape, short scale and 1.75" width at the nut makes it very comfy to play if you have small hands and fat fingers. The build is great. It booms plugged and unplugged with strummed cowboy chords with both light and heavy attack. There's great note separation with fast flat-picking runs too. Technically speaking, it's not a Bluegrass guitar, but it would totally hold it's own and cut through the mix in a Bluegrass pick. I play my 412R more for fingerstyle, but the 510e holds its own in that style too. Incredible guitar. Grateful to own one...

I think this is my next guitar. Without electronics.

Impressive "e" sound. That actually sounds similar to a very well placed, very expensive microphone.
