Can't wait to get this bike. 2016 is my year. Really glad they brought blue back

Was in the market for an FJR after riding Hareys for more than 5 years. Thanks to your videos, I chose a 2014 FJR1300ES, exactly like yours. While 2016 has more improvements, I am very happy with my FJR.

The most valuable two upgrades for me are the LED REAR lights - much more reactive and visible, and the 6th gear. The current 5th gear revs too high for long cruising.

You should have wished for an automatic turn signal canceling device ! :-) Thanks for the update

+Touleau Tourrain LOL!! Now I get it after someone told me I left it on - I didn't even notice obviously!
@Nickel82379 жыл бұрын
+TwoWheelObsession I still don't get why the FJR doesn't have self cancelling signals. I have 3 bikes I ride regularly and it is the only one without self canceling turn signals so I fell for ya Brian!

+Akumu Yep I forgot that - and the LED taillights. Both minor but nice for sure.

LED lighting, excellent! Cornering lights, cool. I would like to see those as I love to lean and they would definitely help. And 6 speeds? Woot! Woot! I can't wait to see a test ride review from you. I just hope that they also remove the clunkiness and add some smoothness to the tranny. And finally, I would definitely be waiting with baited breath if they were doing something with those saddlebags.

+Nickel Hansford Agree with the clunkiness and noise from the drive train think straight cut gears make most of the noise. BMW slide in to 1st the FJR goes with a bang. Great mill heaps of humph agree with your comments though! Smooth the transmission out it will compliment the slipper clutch

Thanks for the ride buddy you are pretty good on that thing.

About time, 6 speed g/box sounds like they've invested some R&D and smoothed up the gear noise too. Great bike with monster power I'm very keen to test - this would work for me doing Europe. Earlier version I owned did 54 mpg around Scotland went to BMW, got scared with faults now run Versys 1000. Agree with one comment the panniers need a reshape bike looks terrific want one now.

Just bought a '14 FJR a few weeks ago and -- maybe because my point of reference is the 800cc bike I rode all last year -- I find the torque and overall power of the FJR to be nothing short of impressive. I can imagine appreciating the 6th gear and slipper clutch of the new '16, but in terms of power, I am plenty happy with what the '14 puts out.
@TwoWheelObsession9 жыл бұрын
+Emm Ayche The 6th gear is little more than marketing...it only drops RPMs 500.
@Marco-pn3gx9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads-up, That is a bit disappointing, although -- 500rpm is certainly better than nothing. Right now, my FJR is smooth like butter cruising up to about 65mph. The extra 500rpm might extend things well into the 70+ mph range.
@depravedone9 жыл бұрын
That bike is just silky smooth, you were +20 most of the ride on your speed. Couldn't get away with that in my neck of the woods.

Hi, I know you traded your FJR for Tiger…as a firmer FJR owner my self, I have to ask you do you miss your FJR? I recently moved from NYC to Tampa and sold my 2003 FJR because it is just too hot so I figured it would be hard to drive it in FL…

Bud if you need more power riding two up you all might need a diet plan cause this FJR riding two up I do t even realize anyone back there🤔

Hi Brian, Paul from England here. Loving the vlogs keep them coming. Liked your comments on the 2016 Fjr I was thinking what would be your thoughts on a Fjr1300 triple for 2017? All the smoothness of a four with the torque of a twin. O and self canceling turn signals, ahem. Thanks again for entertaining me.
@clanmac669 жыл бұрын
Curious about which alternative shaft drive that's same price more powerful? I can only see the BMW K1600GT which is (in the UK) $6500 more expensive. Kawasaki 1400GT is slightly more powerful but 25kg (55lb) heavier.

Thank you so much for the FJR review. You did an excellent job in the review. I've really got the itch in purchasing one. You had mentioned that it would be great if they redesigned it with a bigger engine. But your assumption for a make-over is probably 3 to 4 years out. I'm 6ft 230 lbs. what are you thoughts

In Colorado where 80mph is a normal cruising speed for miles at a time, if they could keep the rpm's down a bit more would be nice.

+925boosting All that exists right now are official Yamaha PR photos. I don't want to risk any copyright strike on my channel showing them without license or permission. As soon as the bike is in the showroom this spring, I'll have much more info and video :)

I don't think you'd find any of the FJR's immediate competition much if any quicker, certainly not the ST Honda, now there's a bike that long in the tooth. Compared to the Concours it's only a handful less hp and the FJR is lineball on torque which is the most important thing. You might find the 6 speed box will improve things a good step but proof will be in the riding.. BMW? Nice bikes but average reliability and massive expense would rule them out for me at least. The next gen Concours might be pretty interesting though, I had one of the current gen and it's a nice bike for sure and very worthy of consideration but if I were to look at another sports tourer I'd ride the FJR ES first. I'd like to see a brake upgrade and tyre pressure sensors on the next gen FJR too.

+NZsarge1 I was going to comment yesterday on TWO's "more power" comment but decided to keep my mouth shut. Since you did, and hit the nail on the head, I'll put in my 2 cents. I own an '09 FJR BTW. The power and acceleration for a sport tourer on the current FJR is phenomenal. The engine is reliable and quick with plenty of HP and torque for a sport tourer. I also own a 165hp BMW K1200R and the 0-60 times are exactly the same as my FJR. Pretty damned impressive for a 600+ pound motorcycle. Don't get me wrong, we could always use more power. And I'm not bashing TWO in any way as I love his videos and commentary.

Oh I hope the headlights will be able to be swapped into a 2014. I don't care for a taller first gear though, the bulletproof 5-speed works great. The bike has plenty of power IMO, and if it got more power, it would definitely need better brakes.
@davidmcdermott66509 жыл бұрын
Any more house power would be only useful on the track and this is a sport touring, not a track bike. It's already faster than it needs to be.
@Texarmageddon7 жыл бұрын
david mcdermott it’s a 640lb bike... putting out 130hp and 88 ft lbs ....worst sport touring bike to date ... should move it to a middleweight touring class

Do you really think that it is worth to pay for 2016 or up compare to 2014 and 2015. I mean in Turkey 2016 or up models are nearly 4000 usd more expensive.

Hey there TWO! Great Videos ! I'm seriously considering a gen 3 fjr this spring and wonder if I should choose the fjr 1300 a or es model. I have seen in forums where it's mentioned the "a " model has stiffer spring rates. I weigh 330 lbs b4 gear and will be 85%+ riding one up. any thoughts???
@TwoWheelObsession9 жыл бұрын
In short if you are going to ride solo most of the time the Es is mostly a waste. Pay no attention to the spring rate myths.
@milhunky9 жыл бұрын
Ok! Kinda the way I was leaning as well. Thanks for the quick reply. And I'm glad your feeling better too by the way. That is seriously some intense pain involved there.

does anyone use this for a commuter bike? Wondering if its too big? The little shadow I have doesn't cut it.
@stevekitella47815 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 2016 and up they blow the previous models away! 2016 did have major changes over other years! Six speed, slipper clutch, led lighting and the cornering lights. So enjoy your old model 😎!

The shorter mid-range gears should help the feeling of power, but I agree new engine time.

+Photo314159 Why? 145 hp not enough?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy8 жыл бұрын
+John Jones No it's enough. It's just been the same for quite awhile, and the Concours is stronger lol. Torque is most important on a bike like this but the new gears will help that.
@johnjones36488 жыл бұрын
No. The Concours is NOT doing 90 mph at 4K rpm in top gear.
@TheToekutter8 жыл бұрын
Would have preferred some off bike, walk around, details in the review. Don't hold your breath on more torque/power. Similar bikes have similar power. You need to move up to the ungodly K1600GT to see any major jump.
