Dont think its possible for an aftermarket exhaust to ever make the MT ever sound bad, however this looks like one of the few exhausts that in my opinion look good on the MT

As an MT10 owner I thoroughly enjoyed all your mods and especially James' skill on the dyno. Sadly I live in Australia now so I won't be popping down to James' workshop for a "tune." Keep up the good work.

Yup, as posted by many, thanks for the vids. The MT10 is one of very few sporty liter bikes I'm interested in. They are a bit much for my local roads, think west coast of Scotland but upside down. Looking forward to a riding vid. My last comment you replied to was definitely tongue in cheek. Off to watch the Gixxer vid now. Cheers.

Great series ! 3 questions would be great if you could answer : 1) would you buy the MT10 with your own money after your year ? 2) can you buy a power commander download software and buy custom maps from places like JHS online, download it and send it to your PC without going to the shop? 3) did you ever look into or hear anything on the Austin Racing exhaust system for the MT10?
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if money was no object I'd buy an Aprilia Tuono! However that would be a pipedream, and with my reality hat on I'd quite readily buy an MT-10, chuck on a couple of these mods and be happy for years. Yes you can buy those from JHS and then download maps, or we can pull a map from my PC and send it to you. Will always advise a bespoke map for each bike though - they may all be 'identical', but they never really quite are! No on the Austin, although a chap named Karl who watches these has had good results with his - Karl? You there dude? Give the Sulk some info!
@theincrediblesulk55437 жыл бұрын
Fast Bikes Magazine thanks for that reply really helpful. Yes I also tested and loved / feared the Tuono and played with the idea of a 2015 model Vs new MT10 but serious lack of dealer support in Ireland made my decision easy. Glad to hear you would actually spend your money on the MT. Now looking forward to those GSXR updates :)

Buy a power commander, Y exhaust, End Can, Re-map ECU heaps of Dyno tests. Is it worth it for a road bike? would cost a couple of k....Fun to watch tho, nice one guys although I got confused when the bike went back to Yamaha and then came back. lol.(last episode)

What tuner are you using without no o2 sensers hooked up you have to test the emissions on a dyno which i don't have access to

Any MPG improvement on the last install and flash (M4) ? Props to JHS Racing for always giving you a hand. James it's one cool dude.
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
No about the same, around 34-35 average in general (mostly idiotic...) riding. We didn't do the flash in the end, just a few tweaks to the PC map for the M4, a full map would have got slightly better results but we didn't have time, and what we ended up with was pretty awesome anyways.

I have a full M4 system on my GSXS-1000 which I and trading for an MT. This M4 system will be on it day one, then an ECM flash from Dano's Performance in California. It will be perfection.

Great series! Nice one BJ was very informative. A question though... flashing your ECU invalidates warranty with Yamaha??
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
I shall ask Yamaha, though my intuition would say - yes!
@ronleon624 жыл бұрын
You mean if I flash my ECU, then later something totally unrelated happens like my turn signals stops working, they will not fix them?

What happens to the bikes and bits are they sold on? Do the bikes go back standard or with the goodies on?
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
The bike goes back to the manufacturer. The bits go back to the folk who supplied them, except things like tyres, brake pads and minor bits and bobs, tend to leave those on when we return them.

Thanks for the MT10 serial. The cam that you are using handheld with a stick is obviously NOT stabilised therefore makes the viewer sick... Please consider using a Sony Actioncam 3000 which has a great optical stabiliser, gopro priced and gopro lightened. I'm not a Sony fan but afters years of gopro this one particular model made me switch.
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
I've just switched from a Sony, the model prior to the AC3000, am now using a camera I've been sent to try out, but people had the same issues with the Sony anyway (which means it's probably mostly me rather than the camera!). I won't be buying a new camera for this as I can't afford one, and must try and talk work into getting something - never easy! As I've said elsewhere, this (and nearly all the vids on here) are done at the moment as an extra off my own back, I'm not a video-type-guy who knows what he's doing, nor can afford to buy a gimbal or anything else. I have recently tried some other measures to try and make it a bit more stable though (Post this video), so maybe I'll hit upon something. Sorry if I've made you feel poorly dude, bear with me, it'll get better in future. Er, I think!
@fuatdomanic7 жыл бұрын
If I'm not wrong sony action cams before model 3000 do NOT have mechanic optic stabiliser. AC 3000's stabiliser is FAR better than many much more expensive cameras including Sony's own 7R2 and RX100! (I got all of them...) This is probably due to the its smaller sensor which makes it easier to stabilise, my guess... Not trying to prove anything or make you spend money, just trying to make a sort of pay back for your videos (got an MT10 too ; ) Check the AC3000 stabilisation comparisons on youtub, you may be impressed enough to get one ; ) Best regards.
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
Cheers dude! I have just turned on a stabiliser in this camera, and to be fair given what it costs the camera is amazing thus far. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do, and what bells/whistles etc it sports. Could sort out my shakey hands somehow too! ;-)

That sound is gorgeous! Do you have any details like part numbers for the exhaust? I love the setup but I'm located in Canada
@fastbikes6 жыл бұрын
Don't have the part number, but it's an M4 exhaust for the MT, must be a Canadian importer for them? Or give JHS a tinkle over here!

what was the m4 can like on the road? any difference to the previous ones?

Just as loud and awesome as the others, off the gasser it did feel like there was a bit extra in the midrange but the dyno charts show similar results.

I know nothing about mapping but could you map your bike at home with a lap top then test on track or road?
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
You could, yes, but you could also make a right pig's ear of it - or you could jam it - or you could be awesome and just nail it! There's nothing like a proper dyno operator doing a bespoke map though, always advised.

Interesting stuff The audio? :) Maybe you guys can find a better mic, there's a huge difference in volume between bike and voice
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
This is weird, it doesn't sound too bad here but I get what you mean, and when editing it was fine, and if I play the finished file via a VLC/DivX/WMP or whatever it is also fine - but somehow in the upload to YT it's diminished again. Happened on another video too, even worse in that case. Hmmm...
@thetriplex93657 жыл бұрын
Here's some stuff you can try. You can check the codec that you're using for the audio and see if people have run into issues with it on KZbin. Don't use a variable bitrate for the audio, if possible. Not sure it's a perfect solution, but maybe you can normalize the sound so there are no peaks, like when the engine is recorded. A temporary fix until you figure it out for the next videos? Also, a dedicated microphone, if you're not using one, might help get more consistent sound. I sense the camera you're using doesn't have a good mic, or the mic you're using isn't that good, because it picks up your voice fine, the engine sound too, but James being a bit further away isn't picked up as well. Range issue?
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips dude! To be honest, I just about manage to squeeze this kind of thing in, don't have stacks of time etc to fiddle about, this is mostly extra stuff I do off my own bat, so any heads up on anything that may help is much appreciated.

doesnt look like it. i see so many of the mt10 exhaust this one seem to be the worst sticking out.
@fastbikes7 жыл бұрын
After being knee-down a bunch of times on that side during my last rides, and there not being any marks or any indication it touched at all, I'd venture there are no worries. At least there wasn't for me, didn't get the chance to go on track with it mind you, a few extra degrees of lean could make the difference, but I'll never know now, and for the road it was bonza.
