Excellent blog as I have a '18 mt10 here in the states. I personally like quieter a little better. Austin racing or SC Project nice but ungodly loud. Initially, I just flashed my stock exhaust mt10 and got 149whp. Going to do a decat link and leave the stock titanium slip-on in place. Beware: they are QUITE loud with a de cat link pipe and stock slip-on. Whatever you put on, proper tuning/flashing a must.

Great blog, great magazine. Love the look of the screen and would be tempted to try the handguards too, as for the screen though, looks amazing but £700 is a bit steep just for the sake of colour. Love all the work you guys do, keep it up!

Not sure if it will fit to be honest, in that there will plenty of suspension options on it that isn't applicable to the stock MT. Plus, it's an OEM item so will likely cost a bomb!

Mate, I watch your Vlogs all the time (my most highly anticipated as they are ALWAYS useful!). I've got an MT-10 myself, and i saw the old SP can you had, and I got the same one because I loved the sound of it! In regards to the heated grips, I'm in London mate, and I ride through the winter too. I've already got the heated grips by Yamaha, and tbh I don't think they are all that! I had the Oxford sports ones on my old CBR600 and they were absolutely quality! So...just an FYI, you may be better off getting the Oxford ones? Also, I'd LOVE to see the new aim coloured dash! I've done some research on it and it looks great, so defo see if you can get one on your bike and I would highly consider getting one myself! Keep up the good work bro!

Thing is when you say that it has only gone up a few deciblies those few decibles is actually doubling the amount of noise it makes. Say you had a speaker that kicked out 100 db and you needed it it to be twice as loud then you would have to increase the volume by 3 db. So, yeah... that thing must have breen freakingly loud at 10,000 rpm.
@fastbikes
@fastbikes 7 жыл бұрын
To be honest I was plunging deep into mostly long forgotten memories of when I used to work in the House music industry a long, long time ago, where a sound engineer explained it to me, how sound works. I could probably look it up! But it was very, very loud (the previous can), this one is still loud enough but nowehere near that one. I still liked it though!
@andrewspooner8146

Tried the hand guards didn't like them one bit. With the screen it did look like an adventure bike. Plus the fact they didn't really work. Maybe deflects 50% of wind blast and 0% rain. Took them off and ebayed them after 50 miles.

Hey BJ, the colored Dash is a cool idea. I would like to see if it fits and works fine. To the original yamaha windscreen, dont pick that one up. it looks way too bad. How about the Puig Windscreen? It replaces the front and in my opinion its a way better solution than the bolt on Yamaha screen. Greetings keep it up!

Meh, to the colour display; I'd have one, but fecked if I'd pay £700 for a bit of colour. :) I'd like to see after market suspension tests - try to get better than the SP's kit, but for slightly less money; think Maxton, KTec, Nitron, etc. And if you really want to do bling, get that primer painted.. (I should be on the stage...the first stage out of here, badoom, tisch!!) And great Vlogs - these have made me buy the magazine, whereas I was buying another one before. So, keep 'em up (Mind you, a digital version of the Mag would be great)

Oh and yes i picked my mt10 up 3 months ago and im alittle p*ssed about the mt10sp but to be honest i would only want the dash, electronic suspension is for showing offs in pub car parks, i had an s1000r with it for just over a year and honestly can count on one hand the amount of times i adjusted the suspension....wish i had saved the money and bought dymag wheels etc instead. Hey mate! You talk sometimes about the tuono in comparison with the MT-10 and now the SP and the new tuono with corner ABS will be sold next year here in sweden. What do you think? Tuono factory or MT-10 SP? Thanks for the vloggs! They are great! Ride safe!
@fastbikes
@fastbikes 7 жыл бұрын
Oh, cripes, I will say we will know more next year when we get the chance to put them head to head. The current MT is awesome and I do love it, but the Tuono is a rather special bit of kit and that's reflected in the price. Current versions of both will be in the mag out in a month or so, FYI.

As stock it was already quite low and can be made a bit lower via the stock setup, but otherwise I'd have to have a look about to see if anyone else has done it. Not sure the SP dash would be a go-er, lecky-suspension options on there etc and It'll cost a bomb direct from Yamaha.

No, this is a system for their own product only from what I can gather and especially the Diabolus line. They actually thought it'd be louder than the previous one, but it's turned out wuite the opposite with the longer can despite the shorter y-piece.

Hi BJ, thanks for doing this vlog. I definitely going to buy brand new MT-10 next spring, and im in love with SP. Whats your opinion about this "update"? I had an FZ1 Fazer , and it was great bike, I've already tested MT-10 this year and decision was made althought it will hurt so much. I have to sell my beloved R1 (RN19).Czech republic fan :-)
@fastbikes
@fastbikes 7 жыл бұрын
The Fazer was a good bike it's true, and very good value for money, but the MT knocks it into a cocked hat! As for the SP, if someone can afford it then fair enough, go for it, how it fares against the stock bike we'll find out after the launch next year.

Another great video . Just picked up my MT10 days after the SP was announced so a bit gutted but would love to upgrade the standard to nearly the same without the Ohlins. Will the R1 dash be a straight swap. Heated grips are the future just not sure about them being wired permanently live. i.e. I can take the key out and accidentally leave them on. Is this correct . Anyone else had this ? Only got 101 miles on the clock but looking forward to many miles on the old girl.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to post. In answer to your questions - firstly, this is not a review, nor a test. This is given away somewhat by the fact neither word appears in the title or accompanying text for this, or any of these MT blogs. Our reviews and tests appear in the magazine, our bread and butter, if you will. This series of videos is a blog, or vlog, about my time with the MT and what modifications I make to it while it remains in my tenure. A big part of Fast Bikes Magazine's remit is to modify longterm machines and report on them. Usually this happens within the magazine but in this instance, also on our KZbin channel. Changing the exhausts is simply one step we undertake to every bike we get, as we are after performance enhancements first and foremost, be that engine or chassis related, hence other blogs covering suspension, tyre and brake upgrades. So swapping the exhaust is par for the course I'm afraid - it's what we do. Ta.
