The red tach and speedo isn't specific to the GTS. It's an additional option at garnet red. If you pick the GTS alcantara red interior you get the red tach only. Also the exterior mirrors are the optional sport design.

I have the same car, but in White, sport chrono package, carbon fiber dash, no roof rack or sunroof, and with standard seats (leather and alcantera). My take on the seats is this. If I had the 18-way adjustable seats, i would configure them to be an exact match for the standard seats. The standard seats are that good. The lack of roof rails and sunroof was my choice, as it gives the car a cleaner appearance, more headroom in the back seat, lower weight, and virtually no wind noise.

And that's about the way I'd spec one out except for getting a dark gray or dark silver color and definitely buy one used - let the first guy take the arse woopin - this one only has 4000-ish miles on it and looks to be at least $20k under what one new would go for. Financed for 6 years and have them throw in maintenance for 3 years, drive the crap out of it then use the difference in what you owe vs. trade in value to apply to the next toy - repeat as necessary....

The big brother Cayenne has the 8-speed Aisin Tiptronic because of its off-road / towing capabilities. The 8 -speed has the proper gears down low for going up steep inclines and towing capacity up to 7700lbs.

The current platform X1 could be a competitor as well. The interior space is very close to that of it's sister the X3 and has better rear seat room than the Macan. The X1 really drives well, it rocks on the twisties says the guy who drives a 911S. You will honestly think you're in a sports sedan although it doesn't have the power of the Macan. Macans will cost a premium over any of its competitors. Nicely equipped X1s are in the mid $40ks.

It's not an SUV, it's a crossover but more precisely it's a hatchback crossover. It stands far from an SUV.

gilat6 Then does that mean the Cayenne, Range Rover, X5, Tahoe, and Explorer (just to name 5) aren't SUVs either? Because they all have rear hatches instead of swing type doors (just like the Macan.) The old ladder on frame type of SUV isn't really the best way to build modern vehicles. That's why companies have moved on to more structurally sound methods like Audi's aluminium space-frame. I don't know what other brands are calling theirs.... Sub-frame, maybe? Whatever. If you want to get technical, SUVs were Crossovers before people started calling them SUVs, because they bridged the gap between the wagons and trucks. Those are just terms we have adopted to categorize vehicles by their usability. So the Macan is actually a smaller SUV that (depending on the configuration) is more performance orientated than something like a Wrangler or 4Runner.
