Thanks for the vid. Dealer wanted $250 for the coolant change. I bought two gallons at Walmart for under $25. Changing coolant now at 125k miles. Did the plug change myself too saved $300 on an easy job.

You’re welcome. How many miles is on your CR-V? If it’s under 100,000, you can simply add coolant rather than doing the drain and fill. Reply with any questions. I’m glad to help.

The Lisle fill funnel will work with CRV. Use the ‘B’ cap and green/B funnel insert, BUT pull off the rubber washer off the black funnel insert and it will slide over the top side of the green insert. Put the B silver cap on and it’s a super snug fit but works well. Unlike other vehicles though it’s hard to squeeze the coolant pipe to force up excess coolant, but it still worked for me.

Thanks! I’ve been watching your tutorials since 2017 when I bought my crv. Mine has only 55k miles on it but I’m already thinking about doing this service. How’s yours holding up so far? Mine has been pretty much flawless outside of one issue with the gear shifter, which was sorted out under warranty within few minutes.

It is reliable and fun to drive. I also had the thumb push button replaced on my gear shifter when it was only about a year old. It was free covered by a service bulletin or warranty, I can’t remember.

Nice video how many km before u change the engine coolant when u loosen the drain plug do loosen also the screw beside. Do u filled all 1 gallon before u started the car.thanks appreciated can i use regular funnel what is the difference of your funnel? how many liters do i need for crv 17 1.5 engine? thanks
@PaulNaylor3

100,000 miles is about 161,000 km and 1 gallon is 3.8 L. You add the coolant when the car is still off until it gets to the full line. Then you start the car and air bubbles will come out and it may settle a little. You do not need the funnel in the video as it did not work for this car. You could use any funnel. Once you drive the car for a while I would recommend re-checking the coolant level as some trapped air will find its way out over time and you may need to add a little more coolant after driving it.

I did not see how do you remove the bubbles by filling up the funnel and run the engine?

Does honda dealer did same procedure?
@PaulNaylor3
@PaulNaylor3 6 ай бұрын
@@edmon179 it’s not that I am doing anything particular to remove the bubbles. They just happen naturally as the car runs and air escapes.
@PaulNaylor3
@PaulNaylor3 6 ай бұрын
@@edmon179 I cannot comment on how a Honda dealer would do this job but I would believe it has to be similar to how it’s done in this video with the exception that the funnel that I attempted to use obviously didn’t work for this purpose.

Do I have to flush it out?
@PaulNaylor3
@PaulNaylor3 2 ай бұрын
Flush & drain are often used interchangeably. So it’s a drain & fill.
@marc_2222

A flush is actually running water through the system ( with the drain valve opened ).

How many liters of engine coolant does it take?
@PaulNaylor3
@PaulNaylor3 6 ай бұрын
I recommend having 2 gallons on hand because it takes a little bit more than one gallon. I would estimate it will take 5 L.

@@TrekSLDuraAce I service Hondas its the same from 2017 to the 2022/23 last of the mk5 line on these 1.5t no difference because of standard spec unless the previous owner added some body modifications to the lower bumper and under tray also the coolant on these can last up to 100k miles on standard driving Honda wont tell you that because they make money on fluid changes its easy money to them, Honda type 2 fluid is extended life fluid that's why its so expensive but its good stuff better than non branded crap that promises much but never delivers.
