I’ve owned a 2015 Honda Accord 2.4 EX-L which I no longer have and now I own 2015 Acura TLX. There is a huge difference in quality in the Acura it is much more quite refined and smooth ride. Also 8 speed is so much better than CVT. People saying it is accord never owned both.

I test drove the new tl a few months ago and liked it. the idling it does will take some getting used to. my 08 is coming up on 108000 miles and I've had no real problems since I got the brakes taken care of. I would go for the one that you feel is the better deal. I do plan on getting the 2016 version in a few years

Ahh for over a year now I been watching reviews on this car from many KZbinrs. I finally decided to give the V6 a chance and test drive it. I loved it and bought it! The 4 cylinder is lighter and has a better launch, but the V6 drives and corners just as well and pulls hard. I've driven a 3 series and A4 and the drive is almost the same. Idk but the interior of the tlx to me is very nice, I got the espresso interior and love it. Idk but ppl need to really just test drive the tlx. It's a great ride and super comfortable. U get a lot for the money you pay. But hey if that bimmer, Audi, Benz badge is something u want and need then go ahead, but give the tlx a test drive and I promise you won't be disappointed.

I love these people that make dumb comments and have no idea what they are saying. The TLX was designed from the ground up as its own car. It is NOT a gussied up Accord! People, before you make dumb remarks please learn something about what you are knocking before you knock it! An Accord is NOT a TLX!

The TLX is not a pimped up version of the Accord, not at all. The 8-speed or 9-speed DCT on a TLX shifts a lot better than the CVT (which actually does not shift) or the 6 speed that comes with an Accord. The suspension is far better in the TLX. I have recently replaced the sway bar on my Accord with the one on the TLX and it now drives significantly better. Also, the TLX is very quiet while the Accord is a noisy, noisy car. I would definitely add 3K to get a base TLX rather than an EX-L Accord. For me, the only disappointment is that TLX no longer has a wagon version, unlike the previous TSX. The 5th door is essential for me.

+ladyvee7110 Mine is 2013 and it is very noisy. Maybe Honda improved sound dampening in their 2016 models. But try the TLX, it is phenomenally quiet. I will try 2016 Accord too when I get a chance.

Nan Xing I was going to get the '16 TLX w/Tech Package but got the '16 Accord w/Nav and Honda Sensing instead because feature and spec-wise they are pretty similar and I saved money. I liked the TLX but there wasn't enough of a difference between that and the Accord I purchased unfortunately.

I've had my TLX v6 tech for about a year. Wonderful car, I really can't complain about anything. Same car as an Accord, not hardly. Much quieter and super smooth, you feel very connected to the car when driving, it reacts how you want it to react. About this 2nd gear to 3rd gear jerk, if I had not read about it, I would have never thought about it. The all wheel steering really helps the handling of the vehicle too. One regret? I didn't get the AWD. Not a lot out there in this segment that did it for me. I've driven a BMW 335 and a Q50, I wouldn't say either have much on this car. Benefits of RWD and that's about it. Solution..get the AWD, problem solved.

The Acura has a way more solid build quality than the Accord. Also, if you're comparing prices you can find an Acura tlx with under 8k miles for around 32 grand. I would happily pay that difference to not have a car look like every other car on the road, have less plastic, and get away from that stupid cvt.
@ericcg95
@ericcg95 9 жыл бұрын
Also, the acura with its beak gives it an eagle vibe which is much better than that lexus with insect eyes. Lastly, the option for all wheel drive is another reason most people go for these cars. Honda accords feel cheap whether you like it or not and acuras really don't. Acuras compete with the a4, 3 series, the is, merc c class, and the infinit q.. it's price point and reliability makes it very competitive. In fact, I want one, but am torn between this and a wrx. (2 different markets I know)

Minot correction: unlike some other brands, the paddle shifters work in all IDS modes, not just Sport Plus. The big difference in Sport Plus is that clicking the paddle shifter then defaults to shifts that happen ONLY by the paddles. No paddle click - no shift. If you select Sport Plus but don't hit the paddles, the transmission tries to decide what gear you'd prefer to be the sportiest, so it holds gears until significantly higher rpms before shifting for you.

@pamorama
@pamorama 4 жыл бұрын
@@SoCalBIGmike I got a 2020 Audi A4. Not because I initially wanted one, but because dealing with the Acura dealers in So CA was the biggest car-buying nightmare of my life. I LOVED my old TLX and was ready to buy another one, but could get nothing even close to a deal. I couldn't even get them to honor my $2K loyalty rewards I was promised when I leased my 2017 TLX, because the dealership had sold to another entity. I got an Audi A4 for just about the same $$ lease as I was being quoted for the OLD model (2020) TLX. I have yet to even see the new TLX on our local So CA lots. It was like a joke, like Acura didn't care one iota about me releasing from them. They completely lost me as a customer. Of course now that I've driven an Audi I doubt I'd ever consider an Acura again--especially for the $$.

I just leased 2016 Acura TLX for my girlfriend. It has better front seats adjustment, better seats in general, looks much stylish, much quitter, better driving experience and over all in a higher class (materials, feel, looks) from 2016 Honda Accord, which my cousin purchased recently. You can save money and be proud and try to convince the WHOLE WIDE WORLD that 2016 Honda Accord is a better choice. I say, whatever car you have is the best one, no matter what anybody says! +ladyvee7110 totally believe you, there was nothing outstanding compared to a loaded 2016 honda accord, or even the new nissan maxima. And I think both look a little better than the acura. What acura should do is make a V8 like infiniti does. And Im sure Acura as a luxury brand, the last thing they wanna hear is their car is a smart buy or a value. I dont know what is up in Hondas/Acuras ass that they refuse to make a V8 engine "because they say it isnt necessary, well people want a V8 because its a V8 and just want that extra juice. Even Acuras top of the line RLX (which the back looks ugly and looks like a knock off of a 2010 sebring which is even uglier or even a 2013 chevy cruze which is even more ugly) doesnt come in a V8. just had to make a rant Even more, their new 2017 NSX a $150,000 car, won't come in a V8, it's a V6....WTF

+ldawson103 As the owner of the new 2016 Accord, I can accurately say nothing that you're saying is true. Quality materials throughout and the cabin is practically noise-free. Can't speak for earlier versions but Honda has made some major changes to the new Accords and the issues you're referring to have been addressed. However, I do agree that there are Accords everywhere. :-D

+ladyvee7110 I guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't find the car to be "quiet" especially in comparison to the TLX. And the interior is cheap and made entirely of plastic top to bottom it is what it is I guess. And the CVT is a definite no go for me too.
@ladyvee7110
@ladyvee7110 9 жыл бұрын
+ldawson103 It's not as "quiet" as the TLX but it is quiet. Plus the TLX has plastic top to bottom as well. I was in the market for a TLX for a long time so I know what I'm talking about. Please don't try to justify getting this over a fully loaded Accord which is less expensive, has practically the same specs and almost more features than the TLX by making things up. I actually own an Accord EX-L and spent a lot of time in TLXes and can make the actual comparisons. I can tell you, there's not a huge difference in the interior except the Accord is roomier with a bigger trunk. What my car has, you have to get the Tech and Advanced package to get in the TLX...look it up. Compare the two vehicles. I have and that's why I decided against the TLX. Honda has caught up and at this point people will only be getting this vehicle just to say they own an Acura. I'm still a fan of Acura(had an RSX previously), however, they really need to do more to differentiate between themselves and Honda. But yeah, we can agreed to disagree. :-/

Again, I still don't see the TLX being in the same segment as the Mercedes Benz C-Class, Lexus IS and BMW 3-Series. Sure, they are competitors only from an overlapping price standpoint, but the TLX is a very very different car aimed much lower. I have no doubt in thinking that it competes much more closely to a Buick Regal, Nissan Maxima, Volkswagen CC, Lincoln MKZ, or a Volvo S60...Maybe an Audi A4 too due to its FWD platform.

First and last time I'll catch a KBB review. Micah first says, "for his money", he feels the C-Class is more visually stunning. Well, buddy, "for your money", you could barely get a low-end C-Class with minimal amenities for the price of a TLX-V-6 SH-AWD with Advanced package, which is the highest trim level available. Then he seems to mock the Sport setting by giving the camera a sarcastic look as if saying, "Well, I'm in Sport and nothing's happening", then several seconds later floors it, revs it, and speeds around the corner.

+senorgato70 Well, buddy, a simple search on the interwebs shows the cheapest C-Class to be about $40k, while the top level TLX is $43k. So not sure what the point of that is. But more importantly, one is a Mercedes and one is a...Honda.

You could get the C-Class for thousands less, then still add a few options before it was equal to the price of the TLX. Pretty obvious to even the simplest folk. That is also actually the opposite of your post. But if even you don't understand what you were trying to say then you have other problems than can be solved here.

mrsj1417 Good god, please educate yourself before you comment again. I shopped BOTH cars myself last year. For the total features, powertrain, AWD, etc you get for $43k in the TLX, NO WAY you'd get that for $43k in a C-Class. You're talking, minimally, $50k. And we're talking about the LOWEST-LEVEL C. If you shopped the highest-optioned 2.4L TLX, it would be LESS EXPENSIVE than the STARTING PRICE of a bare-bones C-Class. Same with a BMW 328i. Again, I shopped this entire segment last year before making a buying decision. Do yourself a favor and go to the MBUSA website and actualy build on with all the SAME features as the TLX and get back to me. Then, again, don't get back to me because I'm tired of wasting my time with such a simpleton. And no, i won't read any reply from you so go ahead and say what you will.

For someone who is "tired of wasting my time", you sure did just waste a LOT of time. LOTS of time. On someone you don't even know. Trying to explain your original statement that is factually incorrect. Unable to accept the fact that you're just plain wrong. That sounds to me like the very definition of a simpleton. I'm sure your mother always told you that you were special and the smartest kid ever, but in fact you're just not that bright. (And further, a simpleton is someone who does not even understand what they posted themselves 5 minutes ago). Not to worry genius, you are now blocked. I can't believe anyone is actually this stupid. Enjoy your Acura.

Ok, after reading all these comments I can tell you first-hand that the TLX is NOT a glorified Accord. In fact the TLX was designed from the ground up as its own car. It shares NOTHING with the Accord. Does the Accord come with all-wheel steering? No. Does the Accord offer all-wheel-drive? No. Is the Accord a great car? Yes, I own an older one. But the exclusivity and nicer quality materials make the TLX a step above the Accord in many ways. The TLX handles like a true sports sedan that it is, whereas the Accord is a "sporty" family sedan. The TLX is a luxury sport sedan, the Accord is not.

We bought a TLX AWD V6 with tech package at end of August, 2016, the car vibrates around 75 MPH from day one. We sent it back to dealer 4 times, they did balance, changed four tires. Last week, they changed many parts according to the instruction from Acura. The car still vibrates around 75 MPH but with less intensively. Just improve a little bit. I have driven four TLX V6 AWD from dealer, every of them vibrates. My neighbor has a TLX AWD V6 with tech package too, his car vibrates around 75 MPH too. This time Acura made very bad car. Acura client relation is terrible. They don't care about this issue at all. We made phone, they told me they would call me back but they never called me.

The cars all vibrate around that speed because of the valve managment system, at highway speeds it shuts off 3 cylinders, thus only 3 are running on ONE side, so this imbalance while the 3 are shut off causes the vibration. This is why acura wont fix it, you can fix it by getting a vc muzzler which is a simple device that stops the engine from shutting down the 3 cylinders

Acura is the advanced technology brand right? But no Apple car play or Android auto that most Honda Accord trims have, or dare I say Hyundai Sonata! Get it together Acura before your fate resembles a make farther down the alphabet like Oldsmobile. I have been an Acura buyer for years. I have had a TL, RDX, and two MDX. When the TLX was announced, I hoped it would be something stylish, something a person would be proud to drive. Unfortunately, the reality was a complete disappointment. Bland really does not do justice to this unimpressive vehicle. In the end, the TLX has too much TSX and not enough TL. I suspect other folks feel much the same. I very, very rarely see a TLX on the road. But I still see a lot of TLs. When I recently replaced the TL, I looked and bought a different brand.

Acura has a lot to learn about how to paint cars. Before you buy, take a good look at the paint in the shade and away from the sun. Paint spray marks and blotchy areas are very apparent on the top surfaces. They say this is normal and their CEO is in on it to. Buy the Audi!

@djoetma

+Jia L. They are home. It's called Honda in basically every other marked. This car would be the Accord in Europe, like the TSX was. Honda doesn't offer a 4 door sedan anymore though.... probably because of the sales. This car really wasn't designed to take on the 3 series or A4 directly. Basically, what the concluding part is from 4:40 or so, is what it is. But people just can't accept paying a little more for the best bang for buck ratio-experience. They want it cheap or the most premium achievable for the money they can spend.

So Acura decreased their horsepower (2014 TL SH-AWD has 305 hp), took away the exposed exhaust, and removed the gear shift for push buttons. Who did they build this car for, 65 year old women? Lexus and Infinite manufacturers are probably laughing their asses off at Acura. Have you seen what Nissan did to their Maxima? Acura needs to pay attention to their competition and stop listening to the senior citizens.

I have to agree with Manpreet, I test drove the 2015 Acura TLX as well as the 2015 Honda Accord, while TLX was a good car, it didn't meet the standard as the luxury car in my opinion (I test drove Audi, MB, BMW at the same day I test drove Acura). Acura had a good run in the past but vehicles from Acura is disappointing (Besides the RDX, that is still one of the best choices for luxury SUV besides the X5). They haven't been able to make the interior luxury as they should have been. For example, you can definitely tell that the interior of the Lexus is luxurious, while Toyota's new cars still have a pretty good interior nowadays, as for Honda and Acura, it feels very much the same and I'm sure even the Acura owners can agree with that here. Specially the new 2016 Honda Accord's front headlight design mimics the Acura's design. Why would you want to put a similar design on affordable car brand when their luxury brand has the similar design language? Just overall Acura still needs improv

As an owner, I can tell you this car sucks balls. I bought a loaded TLX, V6 SHAWD. The transmission is fucking garbage. The V6 is absolutely nothing special (straight from Honda). The tech in the car is such shit, my mothers 2004 explorer has a better nav system, everything beeps for no reason, and the interior does not feel special at all. The TLX is a jack of all traits and a master of none. You get what you pay for and there is a reason why a comparable BMW is 10k more.... Because its worth it.
