It's not an airshow regulation. It's a multinational regulation. Only under very specific conditions is any aircraft allowed to go supersonic as it creates a lot of noise and disturbs those in the area. And when done at lower altitudes, it has a bad side effect of blowing out windows.

Bob hoover takeoff don't see too much of that Bobs weren't as steep all of his airshow takeoffs were roll on take off gear up the F-18 is a great airshow performer very maneuverable.
