Love watching your videos. I'm from the NOBO class of 2000... The best part of your videos is watching you mispronounce the name of just about every place on the trail. "Clingsmans" is the funniest! Keep it up.

When I was planning my 1st section hike in the 100 Mile Wilderness/Maine. I was "concerned" about the water & praying about, the Lord said He's got this! So I yes Lord, I trust you. As we were being dropped off by Phil from "The 100 Mile Wilderness" (cabins/showers/shuttle service/food drop offs/trail angel) I man was coming out & warned us about a storm coming to start around 11pm, it started at 2am & pouring for "5" straight hours! The Lord proved the water I was "concerned" about! ☝🏻🙏🏻😇😁

Something there about being careful what you wish for! LOL Or maybe the Lord provides, but not always the way you were expecting....seems like you needed to be a little more specific!

Just got caught up and let me say, Great Job so far!! You're killing it at your own pace and keeping a great attitude. Your videos are spoiling me on other hikers. I'm watching you and Kiwi Wandering US. Kiwi is a little ahead of you but not by much. Hope you guys can hook up and if you do you've got to do a joint video. Y'all are setting a high bar. I've tried to watch a few others and just can't. Quick question, did you send your stove home? How's that working out for you? Cheers!! Keep it up!!

We too didn't sleep to good but the rain ☔️ was a blessing & we were thankful for it! And then we got to cross/forge 6 rivers after all the rain, but the 1st rock/boulder we came to, because it was wet "looked" slippery & boom 💥 down on our bottoms we went🤣

We had a friend from our 💒 move to Colorado & worked in the parks & when people came into the office who weren't use to hiking or that elevation she would tell them drink water 💦 there is two parts oxygen in there so I told my daughter this as we were hiking up Mt Mitchell 6684 feet/elevation. Clingmans dome is 6643.

I wanted to record this adventure to look back on and reflect and for my family, friends, and coworkers. That I have this many subscribers and supporters is mind boggling, figured the '17 class would want to see the early trail. I'll keep recording and making daily videos and upload them when I hit wifi or AT&T signal. Part of my enjoyment is that other people are enjoying the AT through me.

do you have problems with chaffing? I want to do a section hike and am thinking of bodyglide. what do you use,if anything?
@calicojack16647 жыл бұрын
Body Glide is the most popular choice on trail. I use petroleum jelly, I swear it's not only better for chafing- it also has a dozen other uses on trail. Chapped lips, sunburn treatment, blister prevention, athletes foot prevention/cure, fire starting, etc.
@bethratkewicz60627 жыл бұрын
CalicoJack™ I was reading that vaseline gets gross with sweat?
@calicojack16647 жыл бұрын
Vaseline is quite oily on the skin for the first 15-30 minutes regardless of sweat. Moisturizing! Try them both, I think you'll like petroleum jelly most. Both very effective tho. I battle stinky feet from athletes foot. I like how Vaseline kills fungi and prevents their growth. I've seen others use gold bond & body Glide combination to address these issues, but I'll stick with petroleum jelly.

Been following your videos. Couldn't help notice you never show your food or eating. Also couldn't help but crunch the numbers. So you're averaging 8 miles a day? At that pace, you should make Katahdin before October 15th. I plan to do a flip-flop starting May in Roanoke.
